Senator Cruz,
April 20, 2016
I wanted to write this letter to you in the hopes that you will get it and be able to read it.
I have been, and am, a supporter and admirer of yours.
You have been a staunch supporter of the constitution, conservative values, and stood (many times alone) against a GOP Establishment that has not kept faith with the conservative base of the party who electe them.
I have supported you from afar as you won offices in TExas, including your stinning victory for the US SEnate. I have supported you through these Presidential primaries and worked in my own area to help yo win Idaho. I have sent money into your campaign.
Now we have reached a stage where things are coming into focus.
I know, as an individual with the will and the stamina and dedication to run for President that you are absolutely convinced of your need to win this race.
However, reality is now showing that mathematically that victory is out of reach through the primaries.
I know you can, and that you seem willing to try and do all in your power to take the fight to the convention and somehow stop Donald Trump from getting the delegates he needs so you can fight him on the convention floor and win the nomination.
As a devout Christian, as an American who loves this nation and the Constitution, I urge you not to do so.
I believe the single worst thing that we could do, that would almost assuredly lead to a Hillary Clinton victory, is to have an ugly convention fight that ends up taking the nomination away from a man who will have earned the lfar largest share of the vote, and who will have also probably come within a hair's breatdth of winning the necessary delegates. Quite frankly, after his New York victory and depending on what happens on April 26th, I believe it very possible, perhaps even likely, that he will get to the delegates necessary before the convention in any case.
I know the GOPe and many who have had the most vile things to say about you are now hoping to use you to stop Donald Trump. Their support fo you is feigned and they will throw you to the curb the instant they can in order to retain their own power...and, in my pwn estimation, they do not care if it means Hillary Clinton being elected to do so.
I have studied your positions and your speeches and I agree with them and support them whole heartidly. But I have also studied the positions that Trump has now put out and the detail. They are very similar to your own senator. I guess the big question is whetrher we believe Donald Trump will actually follow through and implement them.
If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.
Senator Cruz, a raucus, ugly fight at the convention will almost ensure that one or the other large segmnent of the people who voted in the GOP primaries will be very angry and we will lose many of thiir votes in the general, or worse, they will try a 3rd party run.
Either of those scenarios hands the election to Hillary Clinton or the DNC.
As a nation we absolutely CANNOT afford a 3rd Obama term or worse. The impact to the Supreme Court, to foreigh policy, to our financnes, to a continued erosion of moral values, and almost every other ccritical national interest would all be catastophic.
I plead with you sentor, be the voice of reason. Be the uniter.
You are in a unique position (and God has placed you there) to be able to do this at this time. I know it is not the way you or I envisioned you being able to do it. But it is the truth nonetheless.
Should Trump do well on April 26th and then in Indiana, I urge you to meet with Mr. Trump and be willing to set aside pride, war hatchets, and whatever is necessary to come to an accomodation between the two of you that unites the party behind what will be his candidancy.
I know this is a hard thing to consider...but in the interest of this nation I ask that you prayerfully consider this and stnad up and unite the party so we can win in November.
And then work with Mr. Trump to implement all of those good things that both of your candidacies represent, and then trust in God to turn the tide. I know He will...I know that if the policies set forth are impleneted, he will help us turn this nation around, and there is the very strong possibility that we will have 16 years of strong American leadership to do so.
Sincerely, and as a fellow American and brother in Christ,
Jeff Head

But will Trump actually follow through? Based on his past and recent comments it’s highly likely he will run to the left.
As is a Trump nomination causing a Hillary win, asinine.
No, this has nothing to do with whatever enigmatic ethos Texans lay claim to that somehow no one else can understand. What specifically has Cruz done that benefits Texans?
If you’re to be taken seriously, proof reading and spellcheck is your friend.
Just saying......
Nope. The surest way to elect Hillary this November is to run a divisive phony like Trump.
With sky high negatives, he will drive democrats to the polls to hold their noses and vote for Hillary.
Meanwhile, real conservatives — who would never in a million years countenance giving $ to Hillary or Harry Reid for senate (like Trump did) — will sit on our hands this fall. Might pull the lever for Trump reluctantly, but that’s about it. No money, no time, no phone calls, no volunteer efforts.
Cruz, on the other hand, is the real deal. It’s amazing that a real conservative has been able to run the political gauntlet to this point, and we shouldn’t squander this opportunity.,
I hope he will find a way to come together with Trump and align and unite the two of their GOP voting bases.
Together in an original field of 17, have garnered almost 65% of the vote (and since it became a 4 man race it has been over 805), and who together have garnered 70% of the delegates.
The two of them are showing definitively that the people want, are voting for, and demand, a non-GOPe nominee to take over the party and bring it back to the ideals that the people elected them to represent.
If they simply do that...I predict the GOP (with no “e” wins a landslide in November.
I agree with you. Now is not the time to fight, now is the time to unite.
Amen Brother!
Trump can't beat Hillary.
Puh-leeze....Senator Cruz NOT for SCOTUS!
He and his globalist wife have a tad too many liberal connections for me to see him as a Supreme...ever!

I saw both men's speeches last night and I think already the tone is changing for the better. Cruz was gracious in defeat and Trump was magnanimous in victory. Which for Trump, is saying a lot. Neither slung barbs at the other and that's a good start.
I really hope that they come to terms with each other because united, they will be able to box the GOPe out of the equation. Together, they will completely control the convention and the Republican Party.
The GOP establishment is hell bent on keeping them mortal enemies as it allows them a glimmer of hope that they can slip their own non-Trump guy in (and it won't be Cruz).
Ted Cruz is only 44 years old. He pretty much still has his entire life ahead of him. He should step aside for Trump today and keep himself in position for future opportunities to serve the nation and the conservative cause.
Thanks.
I wrote this down quickly. The one I actually send into to the Cruz campaign will be cleaned up.
I appreciate your critique and advise.
And folks like you will work hard to make it happen no doubt. I expect you will not vote for the presidential position if Trump is the GOP nominee. And therein is exposed what you really are all about, despite shouting about your ‘purity’. Vichy France comes to mind ...
Here’s something Cruz has done for Texans: has blocked a helluva lot of liberal Obama appointees from taking US District Court seats in TX. And forced Obama to nominate a few moderate/conservatives to the bench instead just to get them through with Cruz’s consent.
Amen to EVERY BIT OF THAT my long-time FRiend!
From your keyboard to God’s ear.
Well written and worthy of breaking news.
Why are his records sealed like Obama?
;)
Whether or not I vote for Trump or not is not the issue.
If Trump does beat out a true conservative, the Republican base will have to once again “hold our nose and vote”.
And we all know from 2008 and 2012 how that turned out.
If it makes you feel good to blame me for not voting for Trump (”Hillary thanks your for your support”) then fine. Feel free.
