Target Corp. made it clear that transgender people in its stores are welcome to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity.
The statement Tuesday by the Minneapolis-based retailer comes amid debates in many state legislatures over restricting public restroom use to the sex listed on a persons birth certificate.
While many of those conversations have centered around restrooms in public schools and government buildings, Target appears to be one of the first big-box retailers to take a proactive stance in declaring its position on the matter when it comes to its own restrooms.
While they may not be technically public, restrooms in stores are often the most easily accessible and widely available options outside of peoples homes and workplaces.
Targets position also extends to its fitting rooms.
Inclusivity is a core belief at Target, the company said in a statement on its corporate website. Its something we celebrate. We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day.
Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, said it is not a new policy, but the retailer wanted to clarify its position given the questions it has received from both customers and employees amid the national debate. Executives sent e-mail to store leaders earlier this week to convey the message.
Its a restatement of a policy, she said. Its just us being very overt in stating it.

What if normal people just object to having to share a bathroom with the opposite sex (which would be the majority of people)? What about their rights?
HA-HA!
Best to go in a Chick-Fil-A restroom if you must go in a public restroom.
The “Super-Target” near me has 24 registers available and only 3 open at any one time. And the cashiers are still dilly-dallying.
If you use the in-Target CVS or Starbucks, let them know they’re losing your business because of this policy.
I just did.
Anyone have the picture of Her Heinous using a urinal?? She can show how it’s done!
Who goes to the bathroom at Target?

Mothers with their little children who need to go potty. You know. Just the right “Target” for trannie pervs who are looking for some spank action.
Don’t worry about the boycott this time.
This will only last till the first person is sexually assaulted in a Target restroom.
Does anyone think this SJW crapola will save the company from ambulance chasing lawyers?
If and when a “transgender” assaults a normal person, I sincerely hope that Target is targeted for fostering the situation. 8-digit targeted suits my fancy.
The targets I have been in have a single occupancy “family/handicap” restroom usually near the pharmacy with a changing table or for elderly who may need assistance. This idiotic policy seems to apply to the multi stall restrooms and fitting rooms located elsewhere in the store.
I have to wonder how their legal team allowed time to post that. If someone was assaulted in a bathroom that’s one thing, but target basically invited the assailant into the victims bathroom with that statement. They never addressed safety issues in the statement. In would think any lawyer would have a field day looking for a huge payout.
I won’t use a public restroom unless I absolutely cannot wait. I have left stores and went home just to pee and then went back to the store. lol
I sympathize with those struggling with gender dysphoria, but I am far from fine with this.
"Rights" are supposedly inalienable - they cannot be squelched for any individual at the whimsy of others. In this instance, the "right" being promoted can only be realized by squelching the right to privacy of those not suffering from the psychological malady. For a transgender to have the right to use their preferred restroom, non-transgenders must surrender their right to privacy.
The right to privacy, admittedly, is not a constitutional right, but is the penumbral emanation that supposedly justifies killing unborn babies on demand. Therefore, any squelching of this penumbral "right" is adamantly unconstitutional, according to the dictates of the left.
And it is equally wrong according to well-reasoned logic, IMO.
Please note - I do not mean to imply a lack of reasoning on your part. Only that I disagree, under the above logic (as well as other discourses I could present).
I have a problem with a non-profit that takes 80 cents on the dollar in donations they get to fund “admin” roles.
In the running for post of the day.
This is why the gay lobby is trying desperately to get laws passed to protect them in the event this happens.
Transgendered folks are pshycologically ill. There was a time when someone who was gay/transgendered would NEVER receive a security clearance. They were considered unstable. Pshycologist diagnosed it as mental illness.
So, now our leaders are pushing to place mentally ill folks in the highest positions. Corporate America is complicit in the degradation of our social fabric.
The communist decades ago new they could not defeat the American homeland because Americans owned guns. A huge corp of snipers known here as...deer hunters.
So, they formulated a plan for communist to take over the media, libraries, schools, churches, government. They would promote a godless society, homosexuality, break down the family unit, go for the guns and flood the country with drugs/illegal aliens, marginalize the U.S. constitution to name a few.
So, here we are.
I couldn’t find a way to delete my account in the help section o Target online. So, I deleted all my information and changed my name to Former Customer. I haven’t shopped at JC Penny for years. This is going to happen everywhere unless Americans stand up and stop this nonsense. I’ll go to some pretty drastic measures and do without a lot of things before I’ll patronize one of these places. Maybe we’d better start thinking about how we can do business and survive without bowing to The Mark of the Beast. It’s here.
its easier than having to cinch up the belt....
That’s true of Walmart also. My stores near me are Kroger & Tom Thumb. Cashiers are pretty good. There are NO restrooms I want to go into unless it was an emergency. Now, even that would be iffy!
Target is going downhill with their product selections. I hate that BIG ARROW and the tiny wording of the item. Who ever came up with that arrow is a dumbass!
