I have a serious question - about all the snow birds that retire to Florida. I understand wanting to go somewhere warmer. But I HATE hot and humid weather - that’s why I escaped Texas been I escaped Mexifornia!

How come retirees don’t stop partway down the country, where summers are better (albeit winters aren’t as nice as Florida!) And people speak English in places like SC, NC, TN, GA, VA, etc.

I hear you. My Fri-Suns are almost a full work week hour wise for me and it is NOT an easy job emotionally or physically (and I'm older n dirt).. usually Monday is a kick back day but yesterday it was another intense day.... so today just protecting my immune system a bit as the shingles are still hanging in. stress doesn't help.

Hope you get a nap in also. The bad thing about me being in all day is it seems to be wall to wall eating and cooking ...which is more eating and tasting....

for tonight I made pasta salad. 3 cheese tortolini, farfalle, sun dried tomatoes, onions, garlic, ciliegine, artichoke hearts in a marinade of ACV, olive oil, basil, sea salt, cilantro & Italian herbs. Of course I had to try some.. like three servings. Did the same with a rice dish I made to have on & off the next few days.. This one Indian based with jasmine rice. Lots of sampling.

Here is my little bag of condiments... In our hotel office cupboard is a plastic container about the size of three shoe boxes. It is FULL of various interesting little packets. Most of the employees bring in or order delivery and any little left over packets are thrown into this container. almost anything imaginable. onions, peppers, minced garlic, the normal stuff.. one of the oriental places delivers a packet with herbs in soy.

I cannot believe how many girly men there are. No girly men out in the country. I was shocked on a recent visit to Milwaukee, WI. Funny story, when my daughter started college a couple years ago, she called frantically to tell me “something is wrong with all the boys”. I think it’s the city water....or maybe the public school system. Something is ruining our men.
