DePaul University students, don't fear! There will be no more political "chalking" at your school.
Apparently, someone wrote - with chalk - on a campus sidewalk last week: "Make DePaul Great Again." The message sent students and staff into a tailspin. The xenophobia! The bigotry! The racism!
"While these chalk messages are part of national agendas in a heated political battle, they appeared on campus at a time of significant racial tension in our country and on college campuses. DePaul is no exception," DePaul's vice president for student affairs Eugene Zdziarski wrote in a campus-wide email obtained by Campus Reform. "The university has been addressing campus climate issues in an effort to provide an inclusive and supportive educational environment. In this context, many students, faculty and staff found the chalk messages offensive, hurtful and divisive."
Mr. Zdziarski cited the school's nonprofit status, which prohibits students from engaging in political activities that could be reflected as the university's "views or opinions."
So no more political chalking allowed.

we needs a chalking event here. If i ever retire, might just do an rv trip to every school and chalk em. kilroy was here.
I liked Blue Lives Matter, referencing their mascot (the Blue Demons).
Offensive and hurtful? Only in millennial cupcake America.>>> key to defeating cupcakes is compelet taking over the slogans.
which prohibits students from engaging in political activities that could be reflected as the university’s “views or opinions.”
So no more political chalking allowed.>>> we are not students lets chalk away. i’m at penn at various times i can chalk there.
Brave stand on the War on Chalk.
That's really a shame, since all of the pros had predicted that DePaul was going to make it to the Final Four.
If it were a black kid with spray paint “black lives matter” it would be forgiven
No. Just “chalk” is not enough to protect their safe spaces. Ban the damn sidewalks! They are the real problem. You can’t ‘chalk’ in dirt.
True, sticks in dirt present a problem, but we can always arrest someone carrying a twig - dangerous assault weapon.
Would they melt away in a steaming puddle if I drove by with a Trump sticker?
When my kids were young our driveway was the local school bus stop. I used to keep boxes of chalk for the kids to use to draw pictures on the driveway while waiting for the bus. All this time I never knew I was racist.
Probably get hired by some marketing firm at a chelsealike salary. :>) Who said there ain’t no opportunity left?
DePaul has been a haven for left-wing back jobs for over 30 years.
Some of the dumbest graduate students I ever met were from DePaul. I suspected 30 years ago, that they were selected based on their political opinions, not their academic qualifications.
The American left has made themselves impossible to parody.
DePaul University is an oxymoron.
Make America great avain. Punch the student’s nose who attempts to tell you, the tax payer, to shut up. Smash their mirror of glamour. Burst their cocoon of entitlement. Call them home to an empty room, since their parents had to sell all the room’s contents, to pay for their trained idiocy.
We need comprehensive chalk control legislation. Make the chalk manufacturers responsible for offensive political speech! Hasn’t there been enough carnage caused by unregulated chalk sales?
This is hilarious. I wonder if the school will demand that stores within a 50 mile radius no longer sell chalk, that all chalk used in classrooms must be registered, its users licensed, and that chalk be kept locked up when not in use, be micro stamped so that any found chalk can be traced to its owner, and be modified so that it will not write except by its authorized user.
And of course, “assault chalk” will be prohibited, as will “silenced” chalk and “sawed off” chalk.
It is vital that they pass “sensible chalk control”, or else some “heavily chalked” student could spray a classroom with forbidden ideas, severely injuring or killing any number of carefully inculcated doctrines and revolutionary dialectic from their teachers.
You can imagine the chaos that could result: white students that do not know their place as inferiors who must be punished; heterosexual students, “disgusting breeders”, who do not want to sexually experiment as homosexuals or transgenders; and horrors, that the US and Israel are not rogue, oppressive, polluting, colonialist states that must be destroyed to save the world.
It is all part of “sensible chalk control” that does not impinge on the first amendment.
“Pitty da fool” who wants to play hopscotch on the sidewalks!
Is DePaul a Jesuit school?
Reminds me of the Chalk Scene from the original THE HAUNTING. Simply replace Chalk with something “like chalk”.
Whereas Elanor is horrified to find ...”It knows my name!”
Trump would be pleased “It KNOWS my name!”
Only political messages that glorify the proper authorities will be tolerated. Long live the great leader Kim and the North Korean people!!!!
Oh wait a minute; this is a US college campus.
