Path to certain failure: NeverTrump + NeverCruz = NeverWin = LostSCOTUS = LostFreedom = LostNation

Posted on 04/13/2016 2:36:02 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Captain obvious here again, but NeverTrump/NeverCruz is not the way. We all have our favorites, but don't lose sight of the mission.

The mission on FR is to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY!!

It's a lot bigger than you or me or our personal opinions or egos. It's about the very survival of our nation and the promise of freedom for future generations.

Reagan said that freedom is never more than one generation from extinction and he was 100% correct.

President Clinton or President Sanders means the end of freedom in America.

Do not let freedom expire on our watch!!

Free Republic will support our Republican nominee whoever he is against the godless Marxist/socialist Democrats in November!!

Thanks very much for the honest reply,mouse1, regarding WI’s vote and campaign launched against Mr. Trump by his rivals, Super PACS and the GOP-E as well, not to mention talk radio.

I know for a fact that Mr. Trump is our strongest candidate because he has withstood a historic number of attacks from all sides, including his alleged own, on a 24/7 basis, and yet he’s still leading in a majority of polls and still winning millions of voters and states.

Mr. Cruz, in his zeal to win at any cost, is irretrievably losing “good will” that’ll be almost impossible, if not impossible to win back, should he succeed at the convention.

Voters are very unhappy with the RNC/GOP’s “rules.”

The vast majority were under the mistaken impression that our votes counted!

Not sure what the practical concern here is.

Are you worried that Ryan, who will be presiding is going to ‘gavel in’ kasich or Romeny?

“I don’t believe him for a second on illegal immigration.”

Funny, I don’t believe Cruz. Not when he handed out teddy bears to welcome them, argued quite eloquently for legal status, and in the beginning of the campaign refused to talk about it, saying condescendingly “The American people don’t want to have that conversation.” Exactly what Rubio later said.

Sessions and Sheriff Joe trust Trump. ‘nuff said.

Something like that. I think the GOPe will have a lot more pull over the delegates AND the rules than anyone here wants to admit.

His name is Jim Robinson.

You’re dead bang wrong and too personally invested in Cruz to view this primary level headed. You’ve turned into a disruptor.

Jim’s message has soared right over your head, because it goes against your “nobody but Cruz.” Cruz is Saint Rafael to you.

Ryan being primaried is good thing. Will keep him straight.

Cruz’s western delegates and Trump NE delegates have to unite like they in TN to keep the rules straight.

I think they will. too many eyes/social media watching in 2016.

“That is common in resort towns all over America”

Yup .. we live in St. Pete Beach and the locals won’t do the work, even if they could use the money. They would rather be at the beach.

Nice try Mr brilliant propagandist!

Problem is that Trump even confessed his love and need for his illegal Mexicans on a TV special.

I won’t waste any more effort on waking you up.

I guess the only reason to vote for the “other” one is to keep Hillary from winning. I don’t believe Cruz will be tough on immigration, don’t believe that in a second as you said about Trump but I would vote for him or support him in some role in the Trump campaign/administration. To me as much as I do not believe in Cruz, I believe in him more than I do Hillary.

Sad thing is at the beginning of this process I did believe in Cruz.

I don’t think Trump and Cruz are teaming up in any way, shape, or form. If Trump wins, Cruz will politely shake his hand, but that’s about it. If Cruz wins, you probably won’t even get that out of Trump. I don’t see how Trump would make Cruz his VP, especially after he’s declared he’s basically ineligible to be President. Plus, Trump’s declared Cruz is a liar, so is he really going to make a ‘liar’ part of his team?

We may be able to forgive Sen Cruz or hold our nose and still pull that lever. Many low information and cross over voters wont. We are talking the loss of millions of votes. They are going to walk away with a very sour taste in their mouth. And it will prove to them that politicians are the slimy weasels they thought they were. This will have a damaging effect on the GOP. Not only will it cost the presidency but also many races down ticket. Some of us seem to have the attitude, “Great lets blow it up”. But think for a minute. If Hillary or Bernie is president, AMNESTY WINS. If amnesty wins, the GOP will never win another race again. I repeat, the GOP will never win another race again. The Country as we know it is done.

A first round vote where nobody gets 1237 is essentially a ball game going into overtime.

That's a terrible analogy. A ballgame where one side has 3 and another 12 does not go into overtime.

It's a game for which there is no analogy that I can think of. It's played to a certain number of points, like volleyball or tennis. But it is possible not to get enough points to win. Imagine volleyball where you are playing against 2 teams and have to get to 21. You get 10 against on and 8 against another. You have 18. Meanwhile the other guys have 12 and 4 points. So in this hypothetical game, you have to play again, but you also get to start with most of your points from the first game, and can trade favors with the scorekeepers to try to get more points so you can get 21. You can also try to get some points from the guys behind you.

It's insane, and no game in the world is played like that. If the horse trading leads to the guy with 12 getting the win, are the spectators going to leave thinking that guy is the winner? Will they be satisfied and maybe become fans? I don't think so.

If Cruz fights to the bitter end in the hope that he can deny Trump a majority and then take the nomination for himself (even though he will have at best 700 or so delegates at the convention) then everyone on earth, even the GOPe, will hate Ted Cruz and he will go down to a monumental defeat. If his treachery results in the GOPe getting Ryan the nomination, the end result will be just as bad.

As I wrote in post 148 above, the only thing Ted Cruz is doing by staying in the race is making a Hillary presidency more likely. Even if we hold our noses and vote for the Republican, as JimRob advises, it will be a useless gesture. There are too many people who won't, like with Romney, only even more pissed off this time.

Fact is also, if Trump can't force a hostile takeover by conservatives and patriotic Americans of the Republican party, no one earth can. It can't be done if he fails.

Cruz pretty much has the second ballot sewed up.

The big unknown is the outcome of the primary.

“Florida and Virginia haven’t had an honest election in a decade.”

I’m not sure what you’re talking about; Florida has made great strides the past decade ensuring election integrity. You still haven’t made the case as to why Cruz would win WI. I’m sorry I broke into your “Cruz Zone”, it won’t happen again :)

You should read post #253 to see how “weak” Trump really was.

“If becoming the nominee in a contested convention is dishonorable, then there are several Republican Presidents who are dishonorable.”

You are deliberately twisting what JR said. The dishonor is in the way Cruz is getting delegates, bypassing the will of the people. And in the outcome he alone is causing - that a GOPe candidate gets the nomination. That will be in his head.
