‘Fair Trade’: Ted Cruz Rejects GOP Orthodoxy, Joins Jeff Sessions Populist Revolt
Breitbart ^ | 3/31/2016 | Michelle Moons

Posted on 03/31/2016 5:11:07 PM PDT by lodi90

Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz pledges to “stand up for fair trade” in a new state-wide Wisconsin ad hitting on international trade deals, a signature issue of frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign.

“Free trade” is generally seen as a globalist policy in which restrictions on imports and exports are kept to an absolute minimum. “Fair traders,” on the other hand, argue that purely free trade can have negative consequences for the citizens of a particular country, especially when it comes to wages and employment opportunities for the lower and middle classes. They recommend that sovereign nations negotiate and implement trade deals that prioritize their own people first. This debate has been a centerpiece of the 2016 primary season as both political parties have seen populist factions revolt against their respective establishments over what they view as unfair free trade deals.

Cruz, speaking directly to the camera, says:

Wisconsin is a beautiful place where the people place solutions over slogans.

Our campaign is for the working moms, the truck drivers, the mechanics, and the machinists with calluses on their hands. It’s for the farmers and factory workers and the families who worry about prices going up while paychecks stay flat. It’s for the young people coming out of school unable to find a job.

I’m going to stand up for fair trade, and bring our jobs back from China.

We will see wages going up. We’ll see opportunity again.

We’ll see a President who will stand with the people of Wisconsin, and Americans everywhere.

This is a significant change in policy and rhetoric for Cruz away from Republican party’s limitless trade orthodoxy.

Cruz hires Neil Bush. Calgary Ted gets endorsed by Jeb! after the secret “get Trump” meeting with fellow GOP establishment hacks Jeb!, Kasich and Rubio. Cruz worked in the Bush machine in DC and Texas for almost 15 years. His wife is a big time Bushy with almost as much time in the Bush machine and she is a vocal globalist to boot. Cruz copies pretty much every major Trump position after Trump takes the initial flack for it. Incidentally, Cruz also lies almost as often as Obama. Cruz is McArthur? I submit to you that I am probably not the one who is confused.

BOVINE EXCREMENT !

Many of Trumps positions go back to the '80s, when Teddy was still a young schoolboy.

You go back and watch Trump, when he was asked, by Congress, to talk about trade, finances, the economy.

M2T is not a visionary, has no original policies, and you can have your own opinions, but NOT your own "facts".

I was a big supporter of Cruz’s up until TPA. I withdrew my support then once it was clear he was carrying water for the kenyan and his big donors. Trump wasn’t even in the race yet, btw.

Cruz didn’t hire Bush, he is an unpaid volunteer.

Jeb’s endorsement is meant to be detrimental.

Cruz is running on the platform he advocated in 2011, which Trump has copied.

You obviously don’t pay attention, I do.

Trump is the liar, Cruz is solidly truthful. Trump tries to call him a liar for repeating Trump’s stupid comments.

#184 you are giving him to much credit.

His trumpertantrums put him at a sniveling, whining, holding his breath, stomping his feet 4 year old.

Just have someone say megyn within 500 yards to see the show.

Ted is a Beta male.

If he becomes president, he will wait for someone in an even higher elected office to lead on an issue he can’t handle so he can assume it.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The man, like all other establishment politicians and lawyers, has no original ideas. He just simply steals from others and tries to call it his own. Kinda like his mistresses.

No, Cruz voted for the initial fast track agreement which allowed the TPA to go forward requiring only 50 votes and not 60.

Then when he was SHOCKED that Obama had lied he voted against the TPA, which was meaningless.

I’ve got nothing but but bad memories of the last 2 elections. Hunter was my man. He had no money, and we had the stupid conservative circular firing squad.
