Jim;
Things have gotten way out of control here as of late. You know as well as most of us, that this war must end and end now, or your forum will end up being nothing more than a joke.
I humbly suggest that you not just request, but demand, that everyone step back and take a serious look at the slanderous comments being made by both camps. Debate is one thing, but what is happening is no longer a debate. This forum is on the verge of a civil war. A war that need not happen. For the good of this great forum, I and many I have talked to on both sides of the war admit things have gone too far.
I am a Ted Cruz supporter, yet I call on all my fellow Cruz supporters to put the knives back in the sheaths, as I ask the same of all you Trump supporters.
This civil war of Freeper against Freeper must end, or the result will inevitably be a complete destruction of this once great forum.
I begin by laying down my weapons as a gesture of good will. From hence forth I will not post any comments that are just knee jerk angry remarks that only serve to fuel the fires of hate and animosity.
We all have a common enemy in this fight, the eventual Democrat Presidential Nominee. I suggest we all remember this, because a house divided upon itself cannot stand, nor defeat the enemy.
I also offer this promise to everyone. Should Trump win the nomination, I promise to fight as hard, and as passionate, for him to become POTUS as I will for Cruz.
Well, why don’t you nominate me to be banned? I’m a Trump supporter.
>>> I promise to fight as hard, and as passionate, for him to become POTUS as I will for Cruz.
And I promise to do the same if Cruz EARNS a plurality of delegates. However, I will not take kindly to a brokered convention in which the top vote getter is bypassed. Of course, I think Cruz is fooling himself if he thinks the GOPe will hand him the baton.
YOU are great!!! Funny stuff...
I understand your point, Defiant. If you are right, the only answer is culling the herd of the chronic noisemakers, and I’m fine with that. That’s up to the owner of the site, though, but he would certainly be within his rights to do so.
If any Republican voter stays home and Hillary wins it is their fault for not voting for the nominee, regardless who that nominee is.
A No Vote Is No Option.
I prefer a penalty for any Republican who votes for a Democrat or stays home in November.
The penalty should be similar but not equal to what the Greeks did when someone refused to vote.
A similar penalty would be DEATH! I’ll settle for anything close.
Oh gosh. I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. I wonder if it can be found in search.
> Part of an election process should be to vet the candidates, which is what is going on.
I do not think anyone here sees any problem with vetting and discussing or offering opinion about daily news about the candidates. The biggest number of faux complaints I see are about a fellow FReeper posting an article or headline that is critical of their candidate. Often the source or the wording of the headline (which is usually what the source wrote) becomes the issue, not the content. But the FReeper who posts becomes the target of the most vile comments. I find this behavior so bizarre. The other common problem is that a FReeper adding a positive post about their chosen candidate has their character, faith, party, humanity, patriotism, on down to their choice of clothing questioned and maligned. These personal attacks, it seems to me, are what the OP is mostly referring to. You seem to not notice. I find it unbearable and have had to put down FR for long stretches until I find I really miss what’s going on in the news. I rarely will offer an article for posting because of this behavior here. I for one would be thrilled if I could come here and read the news, all the diverse and wonderful FR opinions about that news, and not have to wade through petty and offending personal remarks about a previous post. I learn so much here at FR, but I just despise the personal and often vile attacks that occur here lately.
So I must ask you bigbob, do you not see what I just described? And wouldn’t life here be better in its absence?
And this is not the FR of the past.
In the past, a post like this would never have even been posted because everyone knew we were not DUmp and we did not behave like this.
Now, the most vile verbiage (and images ) are posted in the name of the election process. I’ve seen the (thinly veiled ) F word thrown around like confetti recently. It’s been horrible.
Like I said, this is not the FR of the past (built on Godly principles ).
Sad.
Yes she was. My point exactly. It is not an attack or a slander, it is a word that describes Trump and his popularity. Thus a Populist.
Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
Do tell, or share in private if it’s too sensitive
“Now what?”
We could think about a beautiful night, with all of Washington covered in snow. It has been 15 years since the first FR inaugural ball. Free Republic’s effort to take back the White House and keep the Clintons from handing it over to Al Gore was incredible. If Gore had won, no one would have counted the White House silverware.
It will take all of us to stop Hillary this year. Maybe thinking about having a ball in January would help those of us old enough to remember how good it feels to win. For those who have not been here since 2000 or earlier, I hope they know this can be a joyous forum!
True, one wonders how many of those paid protesters are also paid to join conservative forums to be disruptive from both sides of the debate so that the animosity gets so bad one side stays home in Nov.
Great gif
Thanks for the memories.

I didn’t mean all Trump supporters have been rude and insulting. You certainly have been civil and I appreciate that.
I remember it. (but I don’t mention it out loud :)
Good points.
I do wish more would remember the importance of the SCOTUS appointees.
“If anybody knows who George S Patton was, then you know who Trump is.
Each were ONE OF A KIND...only ONE THING mattered to GSP....WINNING!”
OK. That’s a fine analogy, as far as it goes. All Patton had to do was win. He was a general. That was his job. Others would pick up all the broken pieces after him and rebuild Europe. That was a task Patton was not suited for.
Whoever wins the presidency will then have to govern.
Winning is necessary, to be sure. But more is needed. Much more.
Look when I posted that I came across as a school ma’rm with a ruler in her hands. Thanks for not calling me out on it. Lol. You have a great week!
