Ted Cruz has been accused of having at least five mistresses, including CNN anchor and former Cruz employee Amanda Carpenter. The media claims Cruz has denied these accusations.
Cruz is lying, according to multiple trial lawyers and experts on persuasion. His lies are hard to spot, because his lies are also truthful.
Consider what Cruz said in response to the news story:
“Let me be clear this National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies. It is a tabloid smear and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen.”
Let’s look at what Cruz did not say. Cruz could have said, “I have never cheated on my wife.” Why didn’t he?
Consider the oath witnesses take before testifying. “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” Isn’t that redundant?
Ted Cruz is accused of having had an affair with five women. He could say, “That’s a lie. I did not have five mistresses.” If Cruz did have one mistress, then he’d have told the truth (he didn’t have five) but not the whole truth (he had one).

Personally, I’m not commenting on the rumors. I’m a Trump supporter and I give Cruz the benefit of the doubt unless strong evidence is released.
What angers me is the insistence of Cruz supporters in that Trump was the one who started the rumors. That makes absolutely no sense, given that his own spokesperson, Katrina Pierson, is one of the rumored “5”. There is more talk and evidence that this mess came from Rubio’s camp and the deranged Rick Wilson.

The "wordsmithing" isn't just coming from us ignorant Trump-supporters.
Ted Cruz's denial was veritably teeming with deflection.
Why not just deny that he has ever had an affair, threaten a lawsuit, and leave it at that?
Instead, Cruz made a lawyer-esque statement and then proceeded to try to make an accusation against Trump without citing any evidence to support it.
Donald Trump seems to be the catch-all boogeyman in Ted Cruz's mind these days.
Why did Cruz go on and on deflecting about Donald Trump and his "henchmen", when everybody in the media has known about this story floating around for weeks and months, and that it was clearly the Rubio campaign that was trying to coax someone into releasing it weeks ago, even going to the trouble of attempting to scour their Tweets after the fact in order to hide their tracks?
And what's the deal with this $500,000 transfer from a Cruz super-PAC to a Fiorina super-PAC, while one of these alleged mistresses was working for the Fiorina campaign? Have you seen the payments she was made, both lump-sum and weekly? She must be a very talented woman!
I've heard no explanation for that payment. Can't we all agree that it seems rather odd and needs to be explained?
Furthermore, even Breitbart (notoriously pro-Trump) refused to release these rumors about Cruz.
Most of Ted Cruz's statement was deflection instead of straightforward denial that he had ever had any affairs.
I agree with the relatively thoughtful article posted on FR earlier today, wherein some CIA analysts (and others who are skilled at such things) dissected Ted Cruz's statement and opined that it left a lot to be desired for someone who is being completely truthful. Specifically, the amount of deflection combined with the lack of a formal denial "I have never had an affair" or anything to that effect.
JMHO, of course...

I am not voting for High Priest of these United States. I find Cruz’s and Beck’s abuse of Christians in this campaign disgraceful. But that’s not why I do not support Cruz in the primary. (I have my reasons) It is clear to me for some time Cruz is not passing the smell test of the average GOP voter. The issues for me are immigration, destruction of the ‘Caliphate’ before it gets a foothold, growth of the economy, and jobs. I have never held a religious litmus test for any elected position.
I get that a candidate’s relationship to GOD is what matters most to YOU. But trashing others here because that doesn’t show up on their radar is unbearable to read and you need to understand that those of us who believe the country and our children’s future is at risk and that is where our focus is are no less qualified than you to post articles and our opinions here.
This story has the potential to dramatically change this race. This is the only reason I am here reading about it. I personally don’t care how many wives Trump has. I can see he is a very good father. As a father, that stands out to me. I could care less about Cruz’s personal life either, except if he is lying about it. That matters. The truth will out. As I see it, we all here are chasing what is the truth, just like every other issue that can have impact on this election, it matters and discussing it is good, not a crime.
Screaming Trump is a heathen will NOT make anyone I know not vote for him if he is the nominee. That is not true, in my opinion, but it is also not in the equation of who can take over flying this ship of state that seems to have multiple catastrophic failures and is loosing altitude. We must find someone to LAND the thing. Quickly !

You obviously don't know ANYTHING about Trump or anything else, for that matter.
I know there is much in the Bible about pride. I am not sure if Trump has the Biblical pride that is a sin. People who know him say he is very generous. That is a characteristic that speaks of one who puts others before himself. So, I have no problem to reading Trump’s character different than you.
To say he does not ask forgiveness may be, in Trump’s mind, true. I know it is not our place to know what is truly in his heart. Only God knows. However, I can understand how he can say that about forgiveness. If you accept Jesus in your heart and follow his word, you are automatically forgiven and your sins are wiped clean. If Trump does that, he is following Christ the way God wants him to. However, it is not you or me to determine where he is at with Jesus. You will know him by his fruits and he his fruits are his generosity. His desire to sacrifice himself as a servant to his fellow American is proof of his generosity and putting others before himself. The Alpha Man persona is how you become after the years of battle in the business world. We have to understand that behavior. And it is that character, after years fighting the challenges of the business world that will fight for America at a time where we need a fighter.

Read my Post #315. Trump is inspirational as the leader we want in America. Those in his inner circle adore him. He is not the same person we see in the public domain. He is kind, gentle and loving of those around him. As for his competitors, he is a fighter. America, after Zer0, needs a fighter more than ever. Trump will fight for America’s future.
