The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has asked a Ted Cruz super PAC to explain why it gave $500,000 to another super PAC supporting one of his Republican rivals.
According to financial disclosures from June, Keep the Promise I - one of four separate committees backing Cruz - gave half a million dollars to CARLY for America, the political action committee supporting Carly Fiorina.
Super PACs are legally allowed to give money to other super PACs - they are only prohibited from donating directly to any political campaign. But it's unusual for one of these groups to give money to an opponent, especially when the candidate it supports is still in the race.

"The answer is that Sen. Ashley Cruz failed to ask Mr. Trump
to 'barter him a better deal'."
So if Cruz had donated $500K to the Trump campaign, the Cruz supporters would be going “so”? Nobody believes that.
So why is it ok that Cruz donated to Carly while they were campaigning against each other?! Your donations to Cruz went to Carly? Are the Cruz supporters ok with that?
Sure sounds like it.
Well good on you. I am truly impressed with your recognition of the real enemy. Happy Easter!
It was Donald Trump who said of his supporters, "I love the poorly educated," not Cruz.
By contract Cruz has not spoken disdainfully of any of his supporters.
As the Trump supporter you appear to be, Trump was clearly speaking about you.
FReegards!
I don't think it's legal for a candidate to have access to his Super PAC.
If I'm wrong then I didn't understand what I was told.
FEC should ask the PAC, not the candidate.

Unlike traditional PACs, super PACs are prohibited from donating money directly to political candidates, and their spending must not be coordinated with that of the candidates they benefit. Super PACs are required to report their donors to the Federal Election Commission on a monthly or semiannual basis the super PAC's choice in off-years, and monthly in the year of an election.
If I had taken my hard earned money, and donated it to a Cruz Super PAC to help his campaign, then found out that $500,000 from that PAC was transferred to Carly’s PAC, I would demand my money back.
There is definitely something fishy with that.
“Lucy, you got some ‘splainin’ to do.”
It isn’t his money, so why should he care? Like all lifelong politicians, he has been living off of others. Probably never had a real job in his life. Tired of all of these leeches.
It will be interesting to see if Cruz got caught following Washington’s Standard Operating Procedure; i.e. babes at taxpayer expense.
Come on. Demand your money back? I don’t believe you would do that.
The hair is something that could be changed but it is Trump’s choice of style A face is not the same thing at all. Trump was just downright cruel with that remark and the fact that you defend that tells me something about you, too. Everyone of the candidates ran because they thought they had something to offer. To mock someone’s looks lowered the level of discourse another notch. And it seems to me that whenever the level has been lowered it was Trump who did it.
Since when did the Cruz campaign care what the FEC rules were?
Cruz is still stonewalling FEC disclosure demands from 2012.
Trump pointed out that she is a sourpuss. Perfectly valid point. Sourpuss = a person whose facial expression or nature is habitually gloomy or sullen.
Exactly! That’s what any normal supporter would do. It’s like ‘hey, if I wanted to donate to Carly I would have done it myself!’
But Cruz used supporter donations to give to Carly and NOT ONE of Cruz’s supporters has voiced some issue with that.
They hate Trump THAT much I guess. I’m sure if Cruz had donated TO TRUMP they’d be demanding an explanation.
Hypocrites.
Come on. Demand your money back? I dont believe you would do that.
What?
Seriously jwalsh07,,you’d be ok if you donated to one candidate to find out that candidate gave it away to an active rival? You’re ok with that?
So if Cruz had given it to Trump, you’d be cool with that too right?
Get real.
Whether it’s a 6 month old story or breaking news, Cruz needs to answer
why he gave his competitors PAC $500,000.
Not Guilty.
