The National Enquirer just dropped a bombshell on the Cruz campaign and the internet exploded overnight. Reports claim investigators found Ted Cruz allegedly had an affair with five different women. UPDATE #1: Ted Cruz Denies Affair. UPDATE #2: Trump Responds.

According to the Enquirer:

“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider. “The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!” The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!

The publication did not name names and only printed pixelated photos. Internet users on Twitter, Reddit and 4chan quickly went to work to determine the identity of all five women while using the hashtag #CruzSexScandal.

My take is that Trump just wanted Cruz to feel the pain of having his wife held up to ridicule like Trump felt with the Melania ad. It was a gut punch answering a gut punch, as in “here’s exactly how it felt.”

The interview with the prostitute was on a blog. Is it real? I don’t know. I’m skeptical. The 3 additional women was proven false...it did not come from the Enquirer. This article is very well done and the statements can be backed up...not just rumors. I did follow a twitter post as far back as I could last night and found that the affairs were discussed on The Hill website and also sent to Megyn Kelly awhile back. #TheThing as it was called seemed to originate with the Rubio campaign and was discussed around Super Tuesday. Today, MSNBC said there were rumors going back to January. I don’t know if the MSM was waiting until the general election to bring this up or maybe investigating was too pricey and time consuming.

I am a Trump supporter. What bothers me the most about this story is the money sent to Carly. Was it hush money? What would be the purpose of sending an opponent $500,000?
We cannot have a leader that is afraid of what may come out in the open. We need a leader that owes nobody. That is nobody’s slave.

I have to wonder how this will affect Trump’s relationship with Katrina Pierson.

I think Ms. Pierson issued a statement denying any affair with Senator Cruz. If she was telling the truth, the story must be a lie. If she was lying, then it follows that the story must be true. Since she is one of Mr. Trump's official spokespersons, her veracity is very important to the campaign. Therefore I would expect that if she is continued as an active spokesperson, Mr. Trump must be confident of Senator Cruz's innocence. Conversely, if he believes that Senator Cruz is guilty of the allegations, he would suspend or remove her as she would have no creditability to speak for his campaign. It is a dilemma and it will be interesting to see how it is resolved.
