I am pretty sure Trump was tipped off about the NE story but mistaken on who was the problem. He pissed on Heidi thinking it was her and he would look like a genius when NE dropped the bomb.
But, it is just a theory.
My take is that Trump just wanted Cruz to feel the pain of having his wife held up to ridicule like Trump felt with the Melania ad. It was a gut punch answering a gut punch, as in “here’s exactly how it felt.”
I would bet... Heidi is screaming at him right now..
