Removal of Confederate symbols turns nasty in New Orleans

Backlash against a plan to remove prominent Confederate monuments in New Orleans has been tinged by death threats, intimidation and even what may have been the intentional torching of a contractor’s Lamborghini.

For now, at least, things have gotten so nasty the city hasn’t found a contractor willing to bear the risk of tearing down the monuments. The city doesn’t have its own equipment to move them and is now in talks to find a company, even discussing doing the work at night to avoid further tumult.

Initially, it appeared the monuments would be removed quickly after the majority black City Council on Dec. 17 voted 6-1 to approve the mayor’s plan to take them down. The monuments, including towering figures of Gens. Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard, have long been viewed by many here as symbols of racism and white supremacy. …

Which as you know, is not the Christian way-we don’t kill people who we consider to be sinners.

It is pure Marxism-—to force history revisionism.

When you control the Words/Language-—and limit it-—you limit the concepts of the future children.

They need to erase all history—male/female paradigm—all Common Sense (Reality).

Christianity has to be erased (as everything which happened in Christian Cultures), so they can erase the concept of mother and father in children. The role of males and females has to be erased to create interchangeable drones, for their utopia where the State is god and mommy and daddy eliminated (no biological connections allowed) and no individualism (identity/uniqueness) can occur.

Collectives have to destroy individualism in children—to “socialize” them—remove the ability to “think outside the box”. Only group (non) think is possible with programmed little (irrational) bots.

It is to create complete Slavery of the Mind (Mind Control of children). They are forcing complete submission to dictates (PC) of the State— without an army with guns (Fichte’s Wet Dream of 1810 where children remain so dumb and ignorant, they believe the most irrational stuff promoted by government-—like males are females, etc.

For many years really enjoyed several trips a year to Nawlins, not during Mardi Gras of course. No more.

Now the place is turning into Port au Prince or Mogadishu .

It will come back, someday, once the Africanized gubmit breaks the bank by running off all the Tourists with cash to spend and is replaced with at least capitalistic liberals again.

And the silence from DC and the Justice Department is deafening. . .

After all, all Confederate veterans have been declared to be US Veterans by multiple Federal laws, AND, removal of any Memorials to **ANY** US Soldier is a violation of Federal Law. . .

Here I thought that stripping the city of all traces of the Confederacy was supposed to result in healing and brotherhood between the races.

Nathan Bedford Forrest's speech to the Independent Order of Pole-Bearers Association July 5, 1875.

A convention and BBQ was held by the Independent Order of Pole-Bearers Association at the fairgrounds of Memphis, five miles east of the city. An invitation to speak was conveyed to General Nathan Bedford Forrest, one of the city's most prominent citizens, and one of the foremost cavalry commanders in the late War Between the States. This was the first invitation granted to a white man to speak at this gathering. The invitation's purpose, one of the leaders said, was to extend peace, joy, and union, and following a brief welcoming address a Miss Lou Lewis, daughter of an officer of the Pole-Bearers, brought forward flowers and assurances that she conveyed them as a token of good will. After Miss Lewis handed him the flowers, General Forrest responded with a short speech that, in the contemporary pages of the Memphis Appeal, evinces Forrest's racial open-mindedness that seemed to have been growing in him.

Ladies and Gentlemen I accept the flowers as a memento of reconciliation between the white and colored races of the southern states. I accept it more particularly as it comes from a colored lady, for if there is any one on God's earth who loves the ladies I believe it is myself. ( Immense applause and laughter.) I came here with the jeers of some white people, who think that I am doing wrong. I believe I can exert some influence, and do much to assist the people in strengthening fraternal relations, and shall do all in my power to elevate every man to depress none. (Applause.) I want to elevate you to take positions in law offices, in stores, on farms, and wherever you are capable of going. I have not said anything about politics today. I don't propose to say anything about politics. You have a right to elect whom you please; vote for the man you think best, and I think, when that is done, you and I are freemen. Do as you consider right and honest in electing men for office. I did not come here to make you a long speech, although invited to do so by you. I am not much of a speaker, and my business prevented me from preparing myself. I came to meet you as friends, and welcome you to the white people. I want you to come nearer to us. When I can serve you I will do so. We have but one flag, one country; let us stand together. We may differ in color, but not in sentiment Many things have been said about me which are wrong, and which white and black persons here, who stood by me through the war, can contradict. Go to work, be industrious, live honestly and act truly, and when you are oppressed I'll come to your relief. I thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for this opportunity you have afforded me to be with you, and to assure you that I am with you in heart and in hand. (Prolonged applause.)

Whereupon N. B. Forrest again thanked Miss Lewis for the bouquet and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. Such a kiss was unheard of in the society of those days, in 1875, but it showed a token of respect and friendship between the general and the black community and did much to promote harmony among the citizens of Memphis.

New Orleans is a city that has always embraced its past, whether good or sordid. Honestly, the Confederacy isn't exactly a big part of the city's heritage. NOBODY was feeling offended by the statue in Lee Circle (the usual agitators probably didn't know who he was).

However, if Mitch Landrieu is bent on taking the city down this road, there will be consequences. I wonder if all the restored slaves' quarters that are part of the guided tours of the city will be demolished as well? Someone should sue the city to compel that action.

what may have been the intentional torching of a contractor’s Lamborghini.
= = =

At least the contractor did not crash it at a high rate of speed on an empty street in the middle of the night.

Somehow, this type of protest seems more ‘right’ than blocking the highway in AZ.

I guess it has an actual reason and goal, which is good for ALL citizens.

Of course not. One of the hallmarks of a great man is humility, which Lee had in abundance.

Do you believe the words of an gentleman of honor and integrity from the past will have ‘one iota of common sense and understanding’ from the trash that is running our country today?——America has lost it’s soul and is on a pathway to complete destruction as we have known it——I looked for ‘one word’ in my local paper today about Good Friday and what it means——nothing, not one single thing about is the bedrock of Christian faith——our country was fought for and came to be by patriots who believed in these principles by men of honor who knew we needed a government that would be honorable and just for all citizens——look at what we have today and weep-—Blessings on this solemn day and know that ‘God still rules over the affairs of men’
