Seems to me if you just tell them they are not strong while not showing strength yourself would only embolden them.
I mean if they hit you and you do nothing then why would they stop.
O just gives them more time to do more damage as he appeases them each time by basically saying the same thing after each attack and people die.
O is a piece of scum and he works for the other side.
