Cruz Hits Trump on NATO 'Surrender' in Wake of Brussels Attacks

GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Tuesday that Donald Trump was engaging in a "pre-emptive surrender" to Islamic terror by calling for a "withdrawal" from NATO on the eve of the Brussels terror attacks.

On Monday, Trump told CNN that the U.S. should greatly reduce its support of NATO.

"It's too much and frankly it's a different world than it was when we originally conceived of the idea," Trump said of the US-European security alliance.

Cruz said he found it "striking" that the terror attacks occurred on the day after his rival candidate Donald Trump called for reducing the U.S. role NATO.

"We see Brussels where NATO is headquartered as the subject of a radical Islamic terrorist attack," Cruz said in a press conference from Washington D.C.

"Donald Trump is wrong that America should withdraw from the world and abandon our allies. Donald Trump is wrong that America should retreat from Europe, retreat from NATO, hand Vladimir Putin a major victory, and while's he's at it, hand ISIS a major victory."

“and the only people in a court proceeding not bound to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth are . . . .

Get back to me when you figure it out.”
___________

Are we in court? Oh, that’s right, we are all just purveyors of satire!

The point was lawyers doing what lawyers do. You failed the test.

Cruz is a big supporter of ISIS. Said so himself. Won’t go after families of terrorists. Won’t waterboard. Biggest cheerleader for ISIS in America.

Proof Cruz is either a stupid SOB in spite of how smart everyone says or just another GOPe liar.

Without the destruction of Libya under the guise of a NATO campaign to build democracy by installing Christian hating Jihadis as the government followed by the fighting in Syria to get rid of a secular government and hand it over to Jihadists there wouldn't be a massive movement of people from North Africa to Europe.

Going back further than that, without the NATO intervention to create a Muslim nation inside the former Yugoslavia there wouldn't be a ready supply of militant training centers and arms (some courtesy of NATO member) in the Balkans.

Put a cherry on top of all that with the fact that if NATO had been dissolved in the nineties like it should have been Turkey wouldn't be playing the game of helping anyone who shows up in Turkey get to anywhere they want to go in Europe.

Years of one lie layered on another is the issue here, not what Trump says about NATO.

So, decide for yourself but Cruz is one or the other; either stupid or a liar.

ISIS is not running for the Republican Presidential nomination. Trump is.

Weakening NATO is a bad idea, Cruz is simply saying so. If Trump thinks it’s a good idea, let him defend it honestly, not by lying about what Cruz said.

The more people hear from him the less they like him

I agree. Oh wait, maybe you aren't talking about Trump, but that phenomenon is what I have noticed. The more people hear Trump, the more they worry that he must be suffering from age related mental decline.

Then it will be easy to link to a quote.

I'll stand by.

To: Be Careful

That is a very good point - one that I have not heard made by ANY of the candidates.

I guess that must be why Cruz keeps losing voters he thought he had in the bag while Trump keeps winning them over.

I see no evidence of this in the real world. In fact, I see the opposite as people begin to wonder about the wisdom of having a dangerously uninformed and mentally unhinged ego-tripper as commander in chief of our military.

Too bad you haven’t been following the elections. The same people opposed to Trump now are the same people opposed to him last year. They’re just getting more and more desperate.

I know it’s gotta be tough to try to keep defending Ted’s indefensible decisions. Hang in there. It will be over soon

I’m not actually aware of any indefensible positions taken by Ted Cruz. As for desperation, the only desperation I see is coming from the Trump Camp, and frankly I don’t understand it, unless it really is true that Trump doesn’t want to win the general - just make sure Hillary doesn’t lose.

Honestly, I don’t know exactly what Trump’s game is. I only know that it is rooted in deep kayfabe.

Winners don’t have to resort to desperation and lies.

Unfortunate that you haven’t been paying attention to Teds campaign of establishment deceit

There's nothing on 59 regarding Cruz or ISIS.

Winners don’t have to resort to desperation and lies.

This is my point precisely. So why are Trump and his surrogates so engaged in desperation and lies about Cruz then? It makes me think that they aren't as sure of themselves in private as they make out in public.
