From the article:
“The Alaska Republican party has awarded 14 delegates each
to Ted Cruz and Donald Trump after Marco Rubio suspended
his campaign earlier this week.”
“Initially Cruz was awarded 12 delegates, Trump, 11 and Rubio, five.”
-
This takes a “win” away from Ted Cruz and makes Alaska a tie.
Alaska hasn’t held it’s state convention yet. The rules in Alaska allow delegates to be re-assigned if a candidate drops out before the state convention. I don’t think Minnesota has such a rule.

GOP Delegate Count
Soft:
Trump - 696
Cruz - 425
Kasich - 144
google.com
Trump - 678
Cruz - 423
Kasich - 143
Wasn’t a win for Cruz anyway. He didn’t garner a majority of delegates.
So Trump added 3 delegates, Cruz added only 2 delegates to previous totals in Alaska! This is hilarious!
Thanks guys for the help!
But D.C. kinda sorta does:
If a Presidential candidate who is allocated delegates withdraws prior to the National Convention, the delegates bound to that Candidate become unbound. [Section V. 7.]. If only one candidate’s name is placed in nomination ... all delegates shall be bound to vote for such candidate on the first ballot provided that the candidate received votes in the DC presidential preference poll [Section V. 8.]. The DC Delegation ... shall be bound through the first ballot .... [Section V. 9.]

ANCHORAGE - Ted Cruz and Donald Trump will each have 14 delegates assigned to them, now that Sen. Marco Rubio has suspended his campaign.
According to Alaska Republican Party rules, (Article 5, Section 15, Paragraph 9) if a presidential candidate drops out before the state convention, the percentage of national delegates pledged to that candidate “shall be reapportioned among the Qualified Presidential Candidates.” The delegate count is recalculated according to a mathematical formula.
“For those who wondered why it was so important that we determine which district they were in before they voted in the Presidential Preference Poll, it’s for exactly this type of scenario, where we have to recalculate the 28 bound votes,” said Peter S. Goldberg, Party chairman. “Marco Rubio has suspended his campaign, but we have not yet chosen delegates. All we have done at this point is recalculate.”
“The vote was close and while Sen. Cruz had the total vote overall, when it was recalibrated, Cruz got 14.39 and Trump got 13.61, and, by our historically used method, we round to the nearest whole number,” Goldberg said.
Prior to that recalculation, Ted Cruz would have had 12 delegates, Donald Trump 11, and Marco Rubio 5.
There’s braggin’ “wins” and then there are Rule 40(b) “wins”.
Two different things.
OUTSTANDING for Trump and may now require an even better performance from Cruz to topple him.
Well with the way things are going, those may end up going to Trump as he is the only one currently qualified to be on the ballet.
The guy wins without doing anything!
Yeap. And the ones that matter come time for the convention are the 40(b) wins.
Cruz got schlonged again.
LOL !!!
Interesting.
Thanks for that link.
