Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’
Washington Times ^ | March 17, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/18/2016 9:07:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.

Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.

“His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters can’t figure out that he’s not telling [them] the truth,” Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evening’s “The Kelly File” on Fox News.

Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.

“He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] he’s scared to debate,” Mr. Cruz said.

“And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters,” Mr. Cruz said. “He thinks they’re gullible and will believe whatever he’s saying. So I’m going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. I’m happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesn’t do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesn’t have even a basic modicum of knowledge.”

Mr. Cruz said he’s happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Ted Douche behaves exactly like Hillary. He acts as if “it is his time, his turn” to be President. He has become utterly pathetic.

““Donald Trump pledges to curb press freedom through libel laws”

Did you see the magazine cover with Trump’s face, and behind him two or three hooded KKK jerks? I thought that was libelous.

Constitution BS. How about some plain language common sense? Is that too scary?

Sorry to hear that you don't think much of the Constitution. Trump must be your guy if you want 4th grade level speeches.

Now that Rubio is out, Trump won’t have anyone to roll around in the gutter with and maybe we can have a debate with substance.

I think the debate should focus on why the decades long job performance of those lawyers/politicians in government like Cruz, is so poor it’s nearly caused irrecoverable harm to America and it’s people. Lets talk about corrupt elections run by insider super PACs who own these politicians like Cruz. Like when Cruz’s corrupt PAC funneled $500,000 to Fiorina’s corrupt PAC. WTF?

Lets focus on the politicians finances and why they generally come out wealthy while Americans decline, decade after decade. Focus on why these public servants becoming our masters.

We don’t need yet another corrupt stinking law clerk turned politician who can recite law. We don’t need Cruz up there straining to sound like George Washington or Lincoln. That’s all bull sh*t. We need a leader not a lawyer, who can lead the country out of the disaster created by these lawyers/politicians.

Learn it.

Why certainly. The Constitution didn’t explicitly define natural born citizen, but the 1790 law did and included children born to citizens. We can surely start with Cruz explaining it to all those birthers out there.

Cruz and Megyn must have a truly great surprise collection of slides, videos, and Powerpoint presentations to offer Trump with their ‘Gotcha’ nonsense.

Some here have compared Trump to Nebuchadnezzar. Maybe Belshazzar is a more appropriate comparison.

Tell me how this is an apology for the rioters?.

Well, let's be clear. Listen, the protesters have no right to engage in violence. They have no right to threaten violence. And these protesters, whether it's Black Lives Matter or Bernie Sanders protesters who are coming in just trying to shout down any speaker, that's not free speech. The First Amendment gives you a right to speak, but it doesn't give you a right to silence others. So the protesters are behaving abusively and wrong.

We have 535 great debaters in the House and Senate.

**********

I don’t know about 535 but we have a bunch for sure. And that is were they need to stay
as debating and actually leading is two vastly differing skills.

At least one more between Trump and Cruz and allow more than 90 seconds to respond. A Lincoln-Douglas debate would be great, but probably unfair to Trump, so maybe they can come up with something in the middle.

OK so you want one more debate with one on one, but what about Kasich and his Constitutional right to ruin and be included in the process?

Slight error in your post, it takes just 50% (not 100%) of the delegates from 8 States/Territories to have a candidate’s name placed in nomination.

Thank you , yes others have corrected it, but it will be the same result. Cruz will not poll the necessary numbers to satisfy the 8 state rule 40B even at 50%.
