What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

Trump came out strong the first day against the whole immigration cartel, while Cruz stood silent waiting for hi money men to give him permission to speak out about a symbolic wall.

I can cite Cruz mentioning a wall back in 2011 and 2012, back when Trump thought it was mean to even force self deportations.

Trump was still for a legalization amnesty and deportations only for the bad ones, until late July 2015. After that he was for deportations for all but an expedited touchback amnesty for the good ones.

In July, Trump even said that he would consider a citizenship amnesty later.

Those are the main reasons I'm still not for Trump.

Cruz outperforms Trump against Hillary in every general election poll.

TRUTH:

A vote for Cruz is a vote for Hitlery.

So you still insist that not using derogatory terms for the proponents of another candidate equates to an echo chamber.

I thought better of you.
You have changed who you fundamentally are.
Not in a good way.

Krauthammer: I Was Wrong for Laughing at Trump… Democrats Are Worried (VIDEO)

Charles Krauthammer finally admitted tonight that he was wrong when he laughing at Donald Trump six months ago. The FOX News pundit has been one of Donald Trump’s leading GOP Beltway detractors.

He’s demonstrated the ability to bring out people who aren’t regular voters, aren’t regular Republicans, and he could alter the map. I think Democrats who thought six months ago, who thought he was a joke, I thought he was a joke for a nominee for the Republican Party, and a lot of people thought as well. We were all wrong. So he has a capacity to appeal. So we have no way of knowing.

But I do think Democrats are beginning to think that this is not a slam dunk and this guy he doesn’t play by the rules. He makes them up. And under a new set of rules she could lose to him.

More Untruth About Donald Trump

BUT I think Cruz or any other GOPe they force on us will work with McConnell and Ryan to give us a legalization amnesty, and maybe later a citizenship amnesty.

Oh, I understand why people are sick of the GOP. I am also. I just don’t understand why they would turn to a lifelong liberal and congenital liar to address the problem. The biggest problem is the size and scope of government, and Trump does not seem to care about that at all. If you don’t address that issue, nothing else you do will matter. He’s the wrong solution. Actually, he’s part of the problem.

That’s close enough to my view of “conservative” for the purposes of discussion.

posted on 11/30/2015, 9:03:59 PM by Jim Robinson (Resistance to tyrants is obedience to to God!)

Trump wants to secure the borders, enforce the law, end anchor babies, end sanctuary cities, build a wall, deport them all, secure the borders, secure the nation, including sending the refugees back!
No one is better at border security, national security than Trump.

Sounds pretty damn conservative to me.

Want to talk about cutting taxes, cutting spending, cutting regulations, cutting government, cutting cronyism, cutting corruption, growing the economy, putting our people back to work, making America great again?

Trump does. And he sounds pretty damn conservative to me.

Want to defend God, family, guns, country? Want to build the greatest military ever so no one dares mess with us?

Trump does. And he sounds pretty damn conservative to me.

Want to build a coalition including conservatives, capitalists, blue collar workers, veterans, gun owners, religious people, minorities, freedom-loving Americans of every stripe?

Trump does. And he's doing it. And that sounds pretty damn conservative to me!

Reagan Revolution meet the Trump Revolution.

No excuses for the tone. None needed.

Sounds pretty conservative to me as it should to any thinking human that does not have a prepaid agenda.

He Only "knows" the Constitution when it suits him. And he's all talk; no show. Or as they say in Texas...ALL HAT AND NO CATTLE

I agree that Donald Trump is nobody's constitutionalist, much less the "constitutional scholar" Obola held himself out to be before showing his true Soviet colors and urinating all over the flag, the Constitution, and the People of the United States (the wrong-colored, melanin-deficient ones).

Supporters are making their decision to support Donald Trump on Trump's point of sale: that he will, as an American nationalist, be a better President than Beastwoman, and that he is more electable than Ted Cruz, who everyone worries may not have the voice and the media savvy (as Trump clearly does) to fight off the Liestream Media's inevitable Hate-a-lanche that they will unleash on the actual nominee, burying him (they fully intend) beneath a mountain of calumny, blackguarding, and just plain lying.

If Cruz is the nominee, Hillary will break cover with 15,000 former Solicitors General and 11,000 DemonRat trialbusting lawyers to assassinate Ted's character and his eligibility issue (COLB? What COLB? Oh, you mean Obola's fake one? Well, that was okay, he's a Communist! What do you expect from the KGB?).

So the rationale for Donald Trump is in part that the LSM and Hillary won't be able to make the lies stick on him, that he'll always be able to get his message out (as Mark Halperin bragged at the 2012 convention to Charlie Rose that Mitt Romney would not be able to do -- speaking together over the GOP's prepared "meet the candidate" video, one of the party's prime convention exhibits, which the viewers didn't see, watching Halperin gloat and brag instead).

So Trump's rationale is that he isn't as foursquare a conservative as Cruz has been (n/w/s certain negative publicity from competition oppo), but he is alone able to cut through the MSM's Black Curtain of hatred and mendacity.

Liberals can't be friends with conservatives. They can't do it. That's happened to me, always, many times, including with my closest childhood friends who, 60 years later, without my even SAYING anything remotely political, see little signs, like where I live (burbs), they see the books on my shelves---and deduce I am not liberal and never speak to me.

Worked for very international corp, working with our people overseas---A PATRIOT to America can't be friends with a GLOBALIST. They can't stand it. It makes them crazy. That's a big reason for the split on FR: the pro North American Union, pro open borders, pro NAFTA, pro Gang of 8 Cruzers cannot DEAL with people like Trump and his FR supporters, who put the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA first, ahead of trade deals, etc.

I support Cruz, but don’t hate Trump

I'm with you. Cruz would be better than Trump in several important ways, but either one would be far preferable to the walking disaster that the country would become if we gave Hillary the White House, or let her steal it. (See my last.)

No more slugtrails in the Oval Orifice!

The trouble with Mark, Glenn and Rush is they became single issue promoters, it is just the wrong issue. Sixty Million immigrants of all origins will never vote Republican. If we really want a new state of Mexico Aztlan then Cruz is your man.

Take a look at your original post 139 :Nope Surprisingly few Cruz zealots left to sputter and vomit out insults.

Now you take a darn good look at the crap posted on this thread by Trump supporters. What you want is an echo chamber where any rude thing can be said by Trump supporters but Cruz supporters are not to retaliate. There's IS no clean end on what you're trying to hand me. Like I said several posts ago, I walked away from FR because all the adults are gone.

Enjoy your bubble.
