Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.
Thank you for your clarification. I do not read it that way and I have been very demoralized by fighting to help elect Tea party candidates that have folded once they arrived in Washington.
I do not think that Ted Cruz has the tools he needs to be effective in breaking up the old boy network and the autonomy from his donors. That is why earlier in the season I hoped he would be Trump’s VP so that some of the stable cleaning would be done and he would be in a stronger position when he would be again running for POTUS.
For you to say that, makes me think you haven't been paying attention to what has happened, or understood why.
Who are these great conservatives from years past? Ronald Reagan? He was terrific and really fixed a lot of crap. Why don’t you like Reagan?
Either our government is a slave to the Constitution or the American People are slaves to the government.
Well stated. Bravo.
False. CRUZ: Well, lets be clear. First of all, the protesters were in the wrong. When you come up and and you use violence, you engage in violence, you threaten violence, and when you try to shut shut down and shout down speech, that thats not what the First Amendment allows. The First Amendment gives every one of us the right to speak, but not to disrupt others.
The point is sailing over your head.
When Cruz receives campaign contributions, Cruz is described as being "beholden" to the donor. But when Democrats receive money from Trump, it's described as the donator Trump, being beholden to give the money.
It's a contradiction.
I used to think James Madison was until I found out he never ran a big successful business.
LMAO! Good one!
You know Trump is great with pulling in the dumb democrat voters. So the GOP is in a tough spot. Do they run with Donald and get the millions of stupid democrat voters? Or do they cast him aside and lose the millions of dumb democrat voters.
But you are saying exactly what I said. Trump is not beholding to people he donated to.
I did answer that. I was referring to Tea Party electees of recent past. Ronald Regan did many good things and unified America. I believe Donald Trump will do the same.
“Elected during a moment of national self-doubt and economic stagnation in 1980, he is credited with reviving the national economy, recovering the nations optimism about the future, and taking the pivotal steps to end the long Cold War struggle with the Soviet Union. His background as a Hollywood actor before entering politics, his idiosyncratic conservatism, and his age (he was the oldest person elected to the presidency) mark him as an extraordinary figure among conservatives and among all of our Presidents, making him a model to be studied closely and emulated by conservatives today and in the future. “
I’m just looking at the RCP polling data. It’s there for everyone to see. Cruz +0.8 over Clinton. Trump -6.3.
Could the polls all be wrong? Sure. Is that likely? No.
And, for what it’s worth, I really, really hope I’m wrong.
Queen Noor's involvement in the political arena has been decidedly behind the scenes due to her ambiguous status as an American (although she relinquished her alliance and citizenship when she married).
I don't think they have much of a choice at this point. The bigger question is what happens in the aftermath of Trump.
Enjoy your echo chamber.
Read 639 (Dutchess47) and 735 (me). I don’t know what 1952 law you are referring to by the way.
There is still a chance for Cruz to get more delegates than Trump with both not hitting 1237.
To be fair the GOPe did bring this upon themselves for ignoring their constituents for years and flagrantly challenging them in past elections with an attitude of you have to vote for us we are the only choice. And for that I am kind of happy to see Donald take a dump on the entire party. I just wish I didn’t have to get crapped on in the process.
