What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

Ted Cruz is not, I repeat NOT, a constitutional conservative. Only low info voters think he is a constitutional conservative simply because that is what he calls himself.

Cruz, is also low information because he said he didn't know he was a Canadian until 2 years ago.

#386 that’s bull shit and you know it. The reason most won’t play is because the trump psychos refused to leave the Cruz threads when asked repeatedly by both Cruz and trump supporters alike

The Crap started when the fr caucus threads showed up. We voted and the Trump Republic cabal began using that to label posters by demeaning them for their choice of candidate.

Systematicly baiting and group pinging there gaggle of flying monkeys to all show up and harass, then start the begging for zotting and blasting troll labels around.

Well, let’s see if he meets the delegate threshhold before giving up to the establishment. Hope you don’t think they’ll install Cruz if Kasich is still standing. They’ll bend, twist and turn and commit any kind of corruption to install one of their own if no one meets the magic number. Don’t see any way for that to be Cruz, so right now I’m praying the voters go for Trump. If he wins the nomination fair and square, then the GOP would destroy themselves if the take it away from him. If Cruz now joins with the GOP in any kind shenanigans, then screw him too.

Are the following actions constitutionally conservative?

-Signing a liberalized abortion bill granting abortion on demand, making it law.

-Giving amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and not securing the borders.

-Supporting the passage of the Brady gun control bill.

-Supporting the passage of the NAFTA Free Trade Act.

Guess which “conservative” did all of those things.

But I am better than the sycophants who supported Obama; I've got a job, I support those people (the largest constituent, the gib-me-dats), my family and I have something to live for, I FRIGGEN LOVE MY COUNTRY. Unlike the damn rabble rousers for Barack!!

If Ted is so anti-establishment, why is Senator Lindseed Oil running fund raisers for him.

I said that Jeff Sessions as a supporter, adviser, and point man to deal with the illegal immigration problem is a sign that Trump IS serious about getting something good done.

You know, the guy that Ted Cruz said would tell you who is telling the truth about immigration? The guy that Ted Cruz claimed to stand shoulder to shoulder with.

That guy.

Do you really think that's so trivial?

>> I would call what Trump is proposing “problem solving”.

Well, that is certainly popular among conservatives who live in the real world. The purists call that “populism” and seem to prefer a guy who talks big and can’t lead. If Cruz had an ounce of leadership ability, he would have put the nomination to bed by now.

He ran on a platform of “I’m not Jeb” and Trump ran on a platform of “Make America great again”. And now, Cruz is just running on a platform of “I’m not Trump”. So, he is not only dull and lacks leadership ability, but he is too stupid to see the obvious.

“Senator Cruz’s dual citizenship with Canada until May, 2014, sort of dampens my enthusiasm for him as a presidential candidate.”

You think Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Hillary Clinton won’t use Ted Cruz’s Canadian citizenship and place of birth against him at a point when nothing can be done to replace him or correct it like after the convention?

Regardless of his many good points and intentions they will crucify Ted Cruz on that point. It is a burden that nothing he can do will change it. Secondly his covered-up and intended to be forgotten loans from Wall Street are an issue with me.

When you read what Trump wants to do actually for America I believe it would be a much better outcome for us than what the recent immigrant newbie Americans and ex-commies want to do to us like import the 3rd world and destroy our culture and rob our safety net.

"I'm surprised at just how many [populists] there are [here]. "

Not only how many, but also how vitriolic they are. Not only are they on their kneepads for populism, they absolutely hate the conservative alternative and let everyone know it.

“5779” is likely the date (5/7/79) and probably corresponds to a birthday or anniversary. People have a tendency to add dates to the end of the username if it is already used.

I’ll take a Canadian Christian any day over what we have now.

*****************

But that isn’t the only choice over what we have now. There were many others and now
it’s basically down to three but basically one otherwise it’s a brokered convention and
look out for the old guard to reappear.

Trump himself doesn’t hire construction workers. That said I’m happy Trump used the Polish Brigade, after all they escaped communism and by all accounts they assimilated well and weren’t a drain on tax payers.
