Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.
Bless your heart.
Well said Jeff, yet again.
I hoped that a Trump / Cruz ticket might evolve, especially between two smart guys.
But, I think the bridge might be broken if not burnt.
President “Obuma?”
Your President is Barack Hussein Obama.
If you don’t even know his name Hay there goes your credibility.
“[Cruz] went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade.”
Except:
1. When he joined “them” and voted for TPA.
2. When he joined “them” and voted for the Corker bill.
3. When he joined “them” and called for a 500% increase in H1-B visas.
4. When he joined “them” and sided with the leftist in blaming Trump for the rioters in Chicago.
5. When he joined “them” and turned his platform over to the “stop Trump at any cost” movement.
My husband is a hardcore Ted Cruz supporter, I am a Donald Trump supporter, not hardcore but firm.
The one thing we know for sure, both Ted and Donald love America.
Either one will get our votes.
“Keep in mind I am not even American,”
I’d say you’re more “American” than 50% of the people in this country We’ll make you an Honorary American — how would that be? — and welcome you with open arms!
I am right there with you.
I like your tag line!
The first eyebrow raiser for me from Cruz was the shaming mailers in Iowa targeting old people. I have lots of older relatives who get targeted all the time from sleazy retailers and insurance and such and that stuff makes me very angry. But I chalked it up to an overzealous campaign worker and moved on.
Associating with nutter Beck was another. And finding out he waited till 2014 to renounce his Canadian Citizenship (I don't like a sitting Senator having dual citizenship with a trading partner. Just not right!)
The final straw was trying to straddle the fence on the Violence at the Chicago Trump rally.
That was a deal breaker.
On the other hand Trump wants to build a wall. I have said for years right here on FRee Republic F*** the Fence, Build a Wall!
Trump is the only one in the game willing to talk about such. Everyone else seems to flee from the issue of building a wall. And he doesn't back down when the thugs show up at the rallies. Because he does not fear the media. He plays the media like Yo-Yo Ma plays his cello.
Cruz has alienated some supporters with what he said last Friday night.
Donald Trump's policy positions are eminently conservative.
The site owner is OK with Trump.
Trump is a decent, red-blooded American. He sure as Hell ain't no Marxist. He's a relatively successful businessman who loves his country.
Donald Trump wants to obliterate the Washington statis quo. Nothing could be more important than that for the American People. Nothing.
I'm not convinced that Ted Cruz, who is beholden to his donors, will be willing to do that.
Additionally, Ted Cruz has shown some disturbing signs of being a naked opportunist.
Not only did Cruz make a statement last Friday night which totally had the wrong emphasis and showed no leadership or solidarity with a frontrunner who, along with his supporters, had their Right to Peaceably Assemble infringed upon by an organized criminal mob, but he even played the race card prior to that. There's nothing lower.
If you think Ted Cruz will get support just by joining the Establishment chorus in slandering Donald Trump, then you're barking up the wrong tree.
Donald Trump will expand the GOP demographic base to such a degree that the Democrats will be relegated to minority status for decades to come.
Dismissing Donald Trump as a huckster and a con-man isn't going to wash. The daily caucus on this site is going 4-to-1 Trump over Cruz, and there's simply no assailing the conservative bona fides of many of Trump's supporters.
Trump has more than earned his position as frontrunner, and Ted Cruz deserves to be trailing in delegates.
So I'm sorry that you've bought in to the phony slander that Donald Trump is not legitimate, and I'm sorry that your dpgmatic conservative purism has blinded you to a candidate who will actually get things done, and who I believe will be a good President.
Donald Trump is a flawed man, as are we all, but God works in mysterious ways.
Against a relentless character assassination campaign fomented by the establishment and mass media, organized criminal thuggery at his rallies, and abject hysteria on the part of his-haters, Donald Trump has weathered withering attacks. And<, on top of that, he has been betrayed by those who should have stood in solidarity with him on at least one occasion (last Friday night).
Donald Trump is leading a revolution. It's not the perfect conservative revolution which ideological purists might have envisioned. Indeed, it's bigger than that. And it's definitely adequate to the task at hand: shaking the Washington Establishment of both parties to its very core.
So be thoughtful and vote your conscience, but don't try to dismiss Donald Trump using the tactics that the Left and the Establishment are using.
If you don't understand what's happening with the Donald Trump candidacy, they I can only hope you wake up at some point, because it's not a phantom, and it's not a fraud, any more than those who support it are. We;re just Americans who are fed up, and rightly so.
Have a nice day.
Go, Trump, go!
Many FReepers agree with you, but we are nicer than Trump and his ken, so they rule the forums for now.
“Senator Cruzs dual citizenship with Canada “
Was it even “dual” citizenship? Wasn’t he 100% Canadian, but living in the U.S.?
What happened?
The GOP died and were fighting for the carcass.
Trump promises the moon and stars and Cruz kicks at Trumps shins and runs his campaign into the dirt.
Go Cruz!!!!
I must admit, Illinois has produced enough frauds to make you an expert on the subject.
Good point!
I was for Ted Cruz before Trump. I would not be unhappy with a Cruz Presidency, but I just dont think he is the right guy at this point in time. And, I am very concerned about the general election. I think Hillary wins in the NE with which Cruz will have a problem. Trump puts a few states that normally go Dem into play. Trump/Cruz ticket is my dream ticket. Hope they work it out!
If you are trying to decide between the two....ask yourself what either man has actually accomplished...
Cruz? Nada....good constitutional attorney....never has run anything....never been in a management position ...never hired anyone....but smart guy, soaring rhetoric and great debate skills.....
Trump, fantastic businessman. crass, crude at times, presidential at others....
Both will kick the table over in Washington....but which one will have the skills to rebuild after....
The one wildcard is that the GOPe is venomous against Trump...That helps tell me he might be the right guy.
>It is disgusting
Like all opinions, we all must give ...

Trump is in it for
Trump. Any one can see that in The Art of the Deal. He is morally bankrupt and the his cult, unfortunately, are in the same league as those who drank the koolaid at the Jones encampment. They are to be pitied if they weren’t so rabid.
That is my thought as well
