Here is "the" math "if": 1. Trump takes 53%,60% or 65% of remaining delegates from 21 states from 3/22 - 6/7; broken down by 11 Winner Take all States, with 597 delegates at stake. And: 2. 10 Proportionately Awarded states with 312 delegates.
Trump: 597 Winner Take All 312 Proportional Award
@53 @53% ---- ---- 316 Total Delegates 165 Total Delegates
316 Winner Take All 165 Proportional Award ---- 481 Total Delegates +673 Delegates Won Tru 3/15 OR: ---- 1,154 At 53% Remaining Delegates Total Delegates 597 +312 --- 909 Del. Left Winner Take All and Propor. @ 60% ---- 545 Total All Delegates +673 Won tru 3/15 ---- 1,218 Total Delegates at 60% OR: 909 Del. Left WTA/PA @65% ---- 590 Delegates left +673 Delegates won ---- 1,264 Total delegates @ 65%
I make no further judgments or prognostications except to say;an alliance of political enemies before the GOP convention would be really good insurance, no matter who you support. Even the best scenario will be close.
I have no agenda and will vote for either Trump or Cruz, and, like you, I have a preference; but this time everything is on the line. Please, for God's sake vote for one of them in the general election.
I prefer Cruz, but I will vote for Trump in the general election should he be the nominee.
I am for Trump but will certainly pull the trigger for Cruz during the general. Those two and no others.
I have the perfect solution. All along Cruz has been my first choice, Trump second, but we need Trump & Cruz to come together somehow to beat off the establishment that is hell bent on picking our candidate and ignoring the voters.
Most likely, Trump has already promised Christie the Atty General spot. Cruz will never leave his Senate seat to be his VP, but I have no doubt he would accept Tump picking him as his Supreme Court candidate to replace Scalia. I would be very happy with this outcome and I think most conservatives would support it. Its a win-win!
The added benefit is our Texas Governor, Gregg Abbott, would pick a true conservative to finish Cruzs Senate term. Thoughts?
To reward that behavior is unforgivable.
Cruz has destroyed any chance at VP. Also he is a ordained “king” in the “Seven Mountain Dominionist movement” , a kookified sect of radical Christians that believe they will control all wealth from non-believers and disburse it to poor believers. You can’t make that up so GTS.
Well it is Trump, Cruz or stay home and watch the GOP lose everything nationally and quite a bit state and local.
So I devotedly hope Trump/Cruz find a way to find common ground
Mark Levin was talking last night about how Lincoln became President with a brokered convention although he got fewer votes.
Agree.
One main problem.. your primese relies on there being a empty seat on the court when trump can appoint and that appointment getting through the senate..
cruz is not stupid. To many maybes and steps out of trumps control to take that deal.
Mark Levin is headed to the funny farm at warp speed.
Thats what happens when you win the primary with a porality of the vote. Its also what happens when your cadidate and his supporters belittle and attack the others and their supporters.
Prefer Trump but will vote Cruz if it’s him.
I agree. Trump could win the nomination on his own but it is guaranteed if Trump and Cruz settle their differences. If 65-70% of the delegates belong to Cruz or Trump, I don’t see how the GOPe can block them both. Cruz can select a cabinet post to his liking and an assurance that the first SCOTUS nominee is a genuine vote against Roe v Wade in return for releasing his delegates to Trump.
And I honestly think Trump v Clinton is going to be a slam dunk for Trump.
And, you know, I want to be clear, because Ted Cruz is a nightmare of a human being. I have plenty of problems with his politics, but truthfully his personality is so awful that 99 percent of why I hate him is just his personality. If he agreed with me on every issue, I would hate him only one percent less. This may or may not be a minority view here, but I for one wish Cruz would crawl back under a rock, never to be heard from again. If you want someone who is ideologically pure to lead the nation, you at least want to try and find a guy who is not a complete a$$hat.
No Cruz based on his alignment with NeoCons and Council on Foreign Relations.
If Cruz is successful in denying Trump the nomination, no way will Cruz get it. The GOP-e wins.
I’m not worried. There will be an empty seat until after the election - or there will be hell to pay for the Senate breaking the promise to hold off until the next President can nominate their candidate. And there is no one in the Senate will balls enough to deny Cruz the SC. They have no reason other than their personal dislike of him and that won’t fly with his background.
Besides - they’ll be happy to be rid of Cruz in the Senate.
I agree with your assessment. Ted Cruz on the Supreme Court would be a dream come true, but he would never NEVER make it through the Senate confirmation hearings.
