Ted Cruz on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump for bowing out of a debate next week in Salt Lake City, and the Texas senator vowed to call out the GOP front-runner at a gathering of a major pro-Israel lobby group next week.
Trump said earlier in the day that he would not participate in the Fox News debate in Utah on Monday, and John Kasich quickly said that he wouldn't attend if Trump didn't. Later on Wednesday, Fox News formally canceled the event.
Trump said he would use his time instead on Monday to address a conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the prominent pro-Israel group. Cruz's campaign said in a statement Wednesday that Cruz would use his time at the same conference to "highlight Trump's positions -- or lack thereof -- in front of the thousands of AIPAC members in attendance."

Look, as far as I am concerned, Cruz isn’t going to amount to anything in this race. He will never be our president, he’s burned too many bridges to have any chance as a VP and at this point, he wouldn’t win approval for a Judge position. He could have early on, but he wasn’t smart enough...and maybe even too lazy.

I think they may be right that Kasich is afraid of Cruz. The governor has banked on Trump only counter-punching and the others only focusing on Trump and it worked. Kasich went unscathed debate after debate.
If he were to get on the stage with Cruz and he was the only target then his amnesty, NAFTA/TPP, gun control agenda might come out. Not to mention his revolving door to Lehman for 600k a year.

The reasoning for not doing the debate was given. Trump had already accepted this speaking engagement. The idea that he fears Cruz is really a stretch considering all the polls in every single debate place him as the winner. Like or hate Trump, at this point in time he is clearly on the way to the nomination, and that drives you insane.

I never said trump didn't do well, but he performed pretty much as the RCP average said he would while Cruz outperformed expectations.

I'd call it exuberance and let it slide but its non stop insults and demonizing. It seems like overcompensation to me.
He singlehandedly forced the GOP to deal with illegal immigration and Moslem infiltration; he was courageous and broke the politicians' club door wide open.

Yes, 10 minutes in a debate and the Trump supporters flood the surveys saying he won. Even ones he clearly sucked at and was yelling and cutting everyone off at. What he says does not matter to his supporters anymore. He is right about everything. Worse than Ron Paulbots. At least Ron Paul had class.
All of the threats about "brokered" and "contested" conventions, because the GOPE doesn't like who is winning...no matter WHAT is thrown at him.
