Should Trump and Cruz unite with we the people against the establishment uni-party?

Posted on 03/16/2016 1:31:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The biggest plus is a Trump/Cruz ticket would immediately secure the nomination for us (the majority of the right-leaning grassroots voters), end any possibility of a GOPe betrayal at the convention, and would ensure the Republican party is finally with we the grassroots people (tea party, conservatives, religious people, economic conservatives, business people, middle class, blue collar, national security patriots, etc, ie, a rebirth of the Reagan Coalition) and against the globalist GOP big government establishment. It’d be a yuuuge middle finger to the elite ruling classes of both parties.

And it would have coattails guaranteeing a pro-America landslide against the America-hating Marxists and a strengthening of the Republican majority in the congress and in local and state governments. And finally begin a return to constitutional, pro-America, pro-free-market government and a reversal of the slide into godless socialism and globalism.

A mandate from we the people to secure the borders, enforce the law, deport the illegals, end sanctuary cities, end the war on Christianity, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the regulations, end the war on American industry, end the war on coal gas & oil, bring back a growing economy, bring back manufacturing and jobs, and rebuild the military.

Unlike the GOPe, this is what real Americans want and what both candidates propose doing.

So let’s quit bickering, join forces, and make it happen.

Trump required -a- ruling. He could say ted has that .

It is all silly politics really.

Ted clearly has his allegiance to the USA. No doubt.

I am birthered out. No court really wants to take this on.

My thoughts, but you said it better. Yes we need to unite behind Donald Trump and whoever he chooses to be his VP. You’ve read what I said about Cruz, but I’ll accept him if The Donald accepts him for VP. I want our country back, for the people, and NOT for the Globisis (GOPe)

I think that the VP position is real.

Trump has a lot of the Romney syndrome - east coast liberal businessman who changes to conservative positions when running for office. He trashed Carson and Cruz, which was very troubling. And there is the Soros business partnerships and his refusal to criticize Soros when asked about him at a Tea Party rally.

All those things make Trump hard to trust. Hard to believe he is serious and causes suspicion that he is cynically using us.

But the vice-presidency is real, not just words.

If Trump were to take Cruz as VP it is a real thing and would go far in giving Trump credibility, that he is not just manipulating voters.

So, yes. It would be good. I am for it.

“There are numerous Trump supporters, but I don’t think that there are many Trump supporters that would not vote for a Trump/Cruz Ticket, thus only a handful.”

That is an incorrect assumption in my community. The majority of the voters in my community were adamantly opposed to Ted Cruz in particular. They had a variety of reasons for doing so. Foremost among their reasons for opposing Cruz was distrust of his honesty on most of his policy positions in regard to Supreme Court nominees, illegal immigration, TPP and other trade issues, and veterans affairs. They include a higher than normal percentage of retiree and current military officers and enlisted men in military aviation. It was/is their view that Ted Cruz is effectively an opportunist and/or a Trojan Horse using the conservative movement as a means of gaining political power to eventually betray the conservative movement. During our caucus we discussed these issues before electing our delegates. When it came my turn to disclose my position with regard to the candidates, I proposed to sit out serving as a delegate in this election cycle; because my position that Cruz and Rubio were ineligible to be lawful candidates made it impossible to vote for them in good conscience in the event these voters wanted their delegate to vote for Cruz or Rubio. With only a few exceptions, most of the voters were not interested in knowing anything at all about the eligibility issue I’m concerned about or flat out assumed Cruz and Rubio were eligible natural born citizens. Consequently, it was a bit of a surprise when they drafted me to be their delegate again despite my warning that I could not represent any of their support of Cruz or Rubio. They commented after the vote that they drafted me because they wanted to make sure their chosen delegate could not and would not betray them and their opposition to Ted Cruz and the forces they perceive to be behind Ted Cruz; i.e. Goldman Sachs, CFR, etc. Simply put, they said they don’t trust Ted Cruz anymore than they would trust Jeb Bush, John Boehner, or Hillary Clinton. This vote occurred while the scandal over the Cruz campaign’s unethical conduct against Carson and the other candidates in the Iowa election was fresh in their minds. Under these circumstances, Ted Cruz has burned too many bridges to the greassroot supporters in my community for a reconciliation to occur now. Note: this is not a reflection of my personal opinion, which varies for other reasons the voters were not interested in; it is the opinion of the voters who elected me to represent them.

This morning I was thinking Trump/Cruz would beat the GOPe.
I am listening to Cruz on Megynn, and I don’t think it’s possible. I know President Reagan and VP Bush did it but that was then and this is now. Something has got to work so that we don’t have a brokered convention. Pray hard.

It is true that you technically don't have to be a judge, or even a lawyer to be on the Supreme Court, the reality is you do have to be a judge with certain credentials.

No one without judicial experience would be nominated, and certainly not confirmed. Especially with the politicization of today. Not having the right judicial experience would be an easy grounds to knock out a nominee.

Besides which, such a nominee, even if confirmed, would not be able to have the right kind of influence on the court.

Maybe if he had chose a different path in life, Cruz could be on the Supreme Court. But, as it stands now, he would not be a good Supreme Court Justice. He might make a good, president, senator, governor, or congressman, but not that.

So you think Trump Supporters have distaste for Cruz so much, they wouldn’t vote for Trump if Cruz was on the ticket.

I don’t see that happening at this point. Honestly I would rather see Trump pick somebody like Rick Santorum for VP. He is not a bad guy and he would bring the conservatives along and he’s acceptable to the party. Trump is going to have to mend party fences. Santorum would work.
