The biggest plus is a Trump/Cruz ticket would immediately secure the nomination for us (the majority of the right-leaning grassroots voters), end any possibility of a GOPe betrayal at the convention, and would ensure the Republican party is finally with we the grassroots people (tea party, conservatives, religious people, economic conservatives, business people, middle class, blue collar, national security patriots, etc, ie, a rebirth of the Reagan Coalition) and against the globalist GOP big government establishment. Itd be a yuuuge middle finger to the elite ruling classes of both parties.
And it would have coattails guaranteeing a pro-America landslide against the America-hating Marxists and a strengthening of the Republican majority in the congress and in local and state governments. And finally begin a return to constitutional, pro-America, pro-free-market government and a reversal of the slide into godless socialism and globalism.
A mandate from we the people to secure the borders, enforce the law, deport the illegals, end sanctuary cities, end the war on Christianity, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the regulations, end the war on American industry, end the war on coal gas & oil, bring back a growing economy, bring back manufacturing and jobs, and rebuild the military.
Unlike the GOPe, this is what real Americans want and what both candidates propose doing.
So lets quit bickering, join forces, and make it happen.
OH, Jim! We may need a little time and grace before two brutally opposed sides can lay down for a shotgun wedding between the Hatfields’ and McCoys’. LOL!! Anyway, good luck in playing the role of Andy Griffin. (I say that with humor and affection.)
Did you read that oddly sourced FR thread claiming Cruz is already making overtures to TRUMP, I think it was for VP, but so that TRUMP could then nominate him to the Supreme Court? Not buying THAT, yet.
>>> Donald Told Ted to go to Court. Ted won in PA and IL. Easy .
Not so easy... the case has yet to be heard on merits.
Also... the senate is where it will be settled. not the courts... just as it was with McCain... and the test they applied to McCain???... Cruz and Rubio would fail.
I have been greatly saddened that he did not see this, or was not able to make his handlers see this, from the start. It's the best plan, and had he stuck to it from the beginning the kind of overview and foresight Trump has demonstrated instead of behaving with such supercilious disrespect to his opponent, it would have been smoother sailing for himself and hence for the nation. But no.
I'll still vote for him if he by some turn of events he gets the nomination; but I won't be delighted about it.
the caller did not speak much on policy. He said he met trump who was a very gracious host. he was very well spoken.he seemed to be describing Trump as a very nice person rather than the campaign mode personna.
on reflection, you are correct it was a likely leak. My impression at the time was that the guy patting himself on the back for being there and “telling”
The possibilities...Imagine a consistent effort to create coattails.
Certainly not. Christie is more knowledgeable in some key, useful areas; but in terms of pure aptitude, the two smartest guys in that race are Trump and Carson. However, other factors come into play; background, image, personality, specific areas of learning or experience, EQ (ability to read people and work within relationships) and other factors. But for width x breadth x depth of pure intelligence quotient, Trump has no equal among all the candidates for 2016.
What he is not: he is not very articulate off-the-cuff. Yet in a way, this blue-collar language style has helped him appeal to the greatest bulk of voters.
“Im talking another non politician.....Shame Petraeus has girl baggage”
Petraeus occurred to me as well. That girl baggage isn’t that bad in this era.
Background videos that show Trumps consistent economic principles over the years:
Trump discussing foreign trade in 1988
Donald Trump on Economic Recovery in 1991
Trump: Congressional testimony on U.N. building renovation, 2005
Also this thread, containing links, including an address to the Tea Party in 2011. The post put "Flip Flopper" in quotes to indicate he has NOT been so inconsistent on many of his platform issues:
First I want the damn Trump supporting @holes on here to stop attacking people like me who post opinions in opposition to Trump (I know some Cruz supporters have the opposite problem), but I haven’t visited your website much in the last couple of day, and do not intend to when called all kinds of nasty sh75 for merely posting articles that oppose (but not attack) Donald Trump.
Burned bridges my friend, and while I can forgive people, I WILL NOT BE BOARDING THE “Trump Train” easily..
I think we are good with the EC. The Senate vote for McCain was a show vote.
“What he is not: he is not very articulate off-the-cuff.”
I not sure I agree. I understand what you’re saying, but I know that if I stood up in front of 10,000 people and had to speak for an hour off the top of my head, I’d freeze up and couldn’t function - THAT’S inarticulate.
Like him or not, it’s hard to argue that Trump has a way of connecting with common folk - you can see it at his rallies and particularly when he answers questions from people in the audience. I don’t WANT a politician who makes glib, lawyer-like policy wonk statements disguised as passion - that crap just goes in one ear and out the other because it’s the same nonsense we’ve been hearing from politicians all our lives.
That’s why Trump should be VP so he can ride herd on the A-holes in Congress. He’d straighten them out.
I agree with all that you said. I also believe that Trump will make the right selection for his VP.
Yes, and it appears some folks (not you of course) are fully capable of burning their own bridges.
VP has no assigned tasks except to sit with the
senate and be prepared to break a tie vote. I will have to check myself now that I have said it???
IMHO all else is delegated by the President.
How could THAT be?? After all, Ted Cruz is such a LIAR! /sarc
I hope this happens.
If only Cruz had one iota of understanding how well Trump has done before 2015, and how meaningful and applicable that depth and breadth of experience is to the goal of saving the nation. His personal disrespect for Trump and ignorance of the scale of Trump's real-world accomplishment is galling.
I can't help but notice that the personal disrespect doesn't seem to bother Trump all that much; given the self-confidence that comes from having achieved a great deal, he appears to find it merely puzzling. But he does not like lying and misrepresentations and refutes these things, for which he gets called "thin-skinned", while we watched Dubya get flayed for 8 years and never say a word to clarify himself or correct the record.
Outright falshoods bother Trump. I was astonished at Cruz claiming that Trump wants to do away with the 2nd Amendment (180 degrees of wrongity-wrong) and Trump wants Obamacare (again, totally misunderstands and therefore misrepresents Trump's private sector, market-based solution, due to Cruz's not having any business experience himself).
There is the issue of downsizing government, which both agree needs to be done. But Trump is the only one who can also readily rebuild the private sector that has been cannibalized by the spread of government, because Trump is the one who has lived it before it became absolutely eviscerated and smothering; Cruz has not.
I have enjoyed reading your posts on this thread!
