Breaking: Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot

A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate over time.

The official stated Mr. Trump is interested in using Sen. Cruz’s ground game in the general election, likes his appeal to the conservative base and his stance on immigration. Of the other options for VP none hold as strong of an opinion on immigration outside of Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona who is also being considered.

Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president. Mr. Trump does not see this as an issue and a small price to pay to bring Sen. Cruz his fundraisers, donors and staff on board

Thanks for taking my comment nicely.

Your take there is exactly what mine is.

After his performance during this campaign season, I wouldn’t vote to put this guy on a school board. (not that you went this far)

Very poor judgement, and a lack of understanding of the first amendment.

cruise is slowly but surely exposing his true motivation, and that has nothing to do with principles, only with winning.

That look says a lot! Donald’s listening and the eyes are almost closed thinking. As Dr. Carson says Donald is a thinker. Rubio just put the nail in his coffin at this moment. It gave Donald the push to bury him. And he well did! Rubio did make the move but Cruz accepted.

Their affair, from 2014, has been rumored.

It isn’t happening, but if it did, would you dump Trump over it?

Probably not. Carson’s critics got collective amnesia when he came around to supporting Trump. “Grain pyramids? Get out!”

I am not saying Trump is Reagan in his beliefs.

Sheesh, why is it that you don’t understand the point.

It is exactly like Reagan/Bush if Trump picks Cruz. He doesn’t like Cruz.

TRUMP might need help with women, Latinos and perhaps blacks, and Cruz won’t help in those categories.

I’ve been thinking VP’s, Sen. Jeff Sessions, Gov. Chris Christie, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Col. Allen West,... but ... go ahead and give Cruz the appointment to SCOTUS, but if GOP doesn’t hold the US Senate, Cruz won’t get that appointment, so he could choose him as his VP and then nominate him to SCOTUS.

I agree with that.

Last year I was heavily in favor of him being Trump’s V.P. pick, or a SCOTUS Justice appointment.

No longer...

Congress has a say in that.

Of course. It happened twice before.

Gerald Ford

"Ford was nominated to take Agnew's position on October 12, the first time the vice-presidential vacancy provision of the 25th Amendment had been implemented. The United States Senate voted 92 to 3 to confirm Ford on November 27. Only three Senators, all Democrats, voted against Ford's confirmation: Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, Thomas Eagleton of Missouri and William Hathaway of Maine. On December 6, the House confirmed Ford by a vote of 387 to 35. One hour after the confirmation vote in the House, Ford took the oath of office as Vice President of the United States."

Nelson Rockefeller

"On August 20, Ford nominated former New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller to fill the vice presidency he had vacated.[59] Rockefeller's top competitor had been George H. W. Bush. Rockefeller underwent extended hearings before Congress, which caused embarrassment when it was revealed he made large gifts to senior aides, such as Henry Kissinger. Although conservative Republicans were not pleased that Rockefeller was picked, most of them voted for his confirmation, and his nomination passed both the House and Senate. Some, including Barry Goldwater, voted against him.[60]"

“More like Peron-Reagan. The pretense that Donald Trump is a traditional Goldwater/Buckley/Reagan Constitutional Conservative can stop now. He’s not. He’s going to win, we get it. And maybe a get-things-done political chameleon is what’s needed to put this country back on track. Time will tell. But there’s no reason for anyone to fool themselves or pretend. He’s beaten both sides of the Republican divide. The Country Club Quisling GOPe and the TEA Party. Now if he can bring enough of both back on side he’ll have a chance to win in November.”

Good post.

Certainly TRUMP could use the ground game Cruz donors supplied to Ted.

It is painful to think TRUMP is forced to settle for Cruz of all people, who can NEVER be trusted.

My thing is even though he screwed up last week, I don’t think he would go against the first amendment on the court. The guy thought he had this nomination in the bag and is desperate. I find it funny he is getting kicked by the voters.

And Hillary would win in a rout.

Some people seem to lack the understanding that FR is not representative of the electorate at large.

Reagan helped himself by picking G.H.W.B. as his running mate -- a "not-scary" pick that smoothed the concerns of establishment Republicans and swing voters alike.

Trump supporters seem to have gotten their guy. Great. Time to stop trying to rub it in and actually try to unite the party behind their guy so he can actually win in November.
