Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment and that the best response to Mr. Trump is to defeat him at the ballot box, reiterating his own pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in the fall.
Mr. Cruz re-upped criticism of Mr. Trump for recently having rally attendees pledge their support to him, likening it to an action kings and queens demand of their subjects.
Its also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone whos a protester is disloyal and must be punished, Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.
The only pledge that I am interested in, the only hand-raising that Im interested in is on January 20, 2017, when I hope to raise my right hand with my left hand on the Bible and pledge to each and every one of you that I will preserve, protect [and] defend the Constitution and fight for the hard-working taxpayers, Mr. Cruz said.

That is a question the voters are asking: At what point do we say enough is enough? Mr. Cruz said. If Donald Trump is the nominee, he is a disaster, and the answer is to beat him.

Good Grief! I have some advice for Ted Cruz from the movie “Tropic Thunder”:
” ...You went full retard. You never go full retard.”
“Did anyone notice that Cruz is NOT talking about the stupidity in Chicago in this article?”
Cruz’s comment stands on its own as a monumental lie and affront to all law abiding Americans who defend the 1st Amendment. Your denial of that obvious lie and all of its implications firmly establishes you as delusional beyond hope of redemption.
“Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment”
Keep it up St. Ted, please keep it up.
No, I said that Cruz is f***ing insane.
Ted... that hole in your foot was a self-inflicted shot.
Months ago I tried to warn Ted’s supporters that he wasn’t who they thought he was.
At the same time I tried to explain to them that Trump wasn’t Nearly the bad guy some folks were trying to make him out to be.
Yes Trump was rough around the edges. He was still hawking many things we wanted.
One of my fears was that folks would buy into the demonization of Trump so much, that they wouldn’t be able to consider him as an alternative when Ted imploded.
I think that is where you find yourself, and I hate to see that.
Give yourself a few days.
Take another look at what Trump is actually advocating. Look at his family, his organization.
I think you’ll find yourself realizing you bought in too much on the negative Trump hype.
It was brought to you by the same folks trying to blame Trump for Chicago.
It was a big negative propaganda movement from the word go.
Good luck.
Stupid thing to say. The people who were unhinged were the protesters not allowing conservatives to gather because they do not bow to their views.
Donald Trump probably knows more about Ted Cruz than any of us suspected.
It would be yet another good reason why Cruz might be hammering him so hard in order to damage his credibility before such knowledge can be revealed.
Now the old libel law used to be (that) youre responsible, you say something false that harms somebodys reputation, we dont care if it was told to you by nine bishops, you are liable, Scalia continued. New York Times v. Sullivan just cast that aside because the Court thought in modern society, itd be a good idea if the press could say a lot of stuff about public figures without having to worry. And that may be correct, that may be right, but if it was right it should have been adopted by the people. It should have been debated in the New York Legislature and the New York Legislature could have said, Yes, were going to change our libel law. But the living constitutionalists on the Supreme Court, the Warren Court, simply decided, Yes, it used to be that George Washington could sue somebody that libeled him, but we dont think thats a good idea any more.
I will stand with Sacilia and Trump over Lying Ted Cruz
I have been a Cruz supporter since the day he started his Senate campaign here in Texas. I am so disappointed that Ted is trying to blame Trump, and use the actions of the extreme left to try to get political advantage over Trump. This is not a side of Cruz that I like or ever expected, and I sincerely wish he would stop the political expedience and go back to honest values.
He’ll get 33% being generous.
Starting to become a little more clear about how he got the reputation he has with his colleagues in the Senate, right?
Second biggest phony in the race and he’s supposed to be this cycle’s choice for the “true” conservatives, hmmm? BARF.
1. It’s not Ted Cruz’s job to defend Donald Trump.
2. Donald Trump has done nothing but trash Cruz for weeks, so h has zero goodwill built up with Cruz. It has been personal too, while Cruz has not reciprocated.
3. What Ted Cruz is saying is right, Trump has encouraged violence at prior rallies. That is not debatable.
4. Ted Cruz never validated the protestors, he simply made the point that Trump has encouraged violence.
5. Cruz has time and again engaged his protestors with civility while Trump encouraged violence against them, arrest, etc. Cruz through his civility shows that he is above the protestors and has often made them look stupid through dialogue.
6. Donald Trump is not a conservative.
Go Ted Cruz!
Rush is so 1998...
Over 1.5 million have attended Trump rallies. 1 incident where 78 yr old man punched punk who gave him the finger.
Cruz MAY have been the “smartest man in the room”, which I
doubt, unfortunately he’s a huge disappointment in the other
hundred rooms that really count.
It’s not Ted Cruz supporters job to defend fellow Americans from communist either it seems.
Enjoy yourselves. That’s all you have.
Protesters? Disloyal?
These are violent hooligans!
They do not seek dialogue, but to shout others down.
They do not seek justice, but think the law does not apply to them.
Have all the protest and speech you want — do it on your own damn time and leave others alone.
“Ted: What a big disappointment you are.”
You said it friend..
