Cruz: Responsibility in campaigns 'starts at the top'
The Hill ^ | 3/13/2016 | Rebecca Savransky

Posted on 03/13/2016 9:25:32 AM PDT by 20yearsofinternet

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at rival Donald Trump's rallies are behaving "abusively and wrong," but added that it doesn't help when the GOP front-runner encourages violence.

"At the end of the day in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top," the Texas senator said on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

"And it is not beneficial when you have a presidential candidate like Donald Trump telling his supporters, 'Punch that guy in the face.' We ought to have a president who brings us together, who doesn't seek to divide us."

Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at Trump's rallies don't have a right to "threaten violence."

He added that it's important a candidate show respect for the voters.

If you give an agitating jackass a big microphone and cheer him on, don’t be surprised if more jackasses come out of the woodwork. Trump is an agitating jackass with a big microphone, and you’re cheering him on. I hold you as much responsible for the consequences as anyone else. Deal with it.

You need to come home if you REALLY believe that. They may have some weird form of censorship there.

The division of which you speak WAS CREATED by the GOPe when they decided that GOP voters were a bunch of uninformed assholes and would always be willing to vote for whoever they served up.

Well, sorry, but WE ARE NOT UNINFORMED. Trump is the ONLY CANDIDATE that directly addressed our NUMBER 1 ISSUE, which is immigration. Cruz may have said a few words in our direction, but ONLY TRUMP made it the centerpiece of his campaign.

The RAGE of which you speak PRECEDED TRUMP and will be there even if the left (that Cruz now defends) gets their way and puts a bullet in Trump. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS FINISHED in its present form, where it relies on a bunch of people that they thought were uninformed idiots. Either they get behind Trump, or they will have to try to form a new party, because TRUMP NOW OWNS THIS PARTY, and even if he’s killed, the Republican Party will NEVER AGAIN have credibility with conservatives.

Other than that, I agree, Trump should cool it a bit, now that Cruz has totally discredited himself. Good point.

Quoting a interesting and pertinent Jrabbit post:

“Last night, CNN had on their series, the 60’s. It was fascinating! Mitt Romneys father and GOPe at that time used the same tactics against Barry Goldwater that Mitt and his thugs are using today against Trump. Including the use of the straw dog KKK fake endorsement!”

(Jrabbit - hope you don’t mind!)

It’s not Trump’s supporters that are rioting and attacking people and property. It’s a cabal of America-hating radical leftists, including the group that burned Ferguson. Are you now blaming Trump for Ferguson?

Right about what? That Trump DESERVES to have people literally ATTACK HIM at rallies?

I am now in America, I also am angry at the Progressives betraying us in the GOP for their utopian New World Order wet dreams. But I do differ as to the solution. Reinstating the Constitutional limits on Government power and enforcing the laws of the land is the answer, not more rule by Fiat.

Ted Cruz offers a return to Justice, Trump offers rage.

The people chose division and rage, Woe to America.

Do you even read what you post?

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at rival Donald Trump's rallies are behaving "abusively and wrong, but added that it doesn't help when the GOP front-runner encourages violence. "

Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at Trump's rallies don't have a right to "threaten violence."

How do you get from there to "toeing the liberal line of attack that it's all Trump's fault"?

The people at Trump’s rally weren’t the law-breakers/rioters. It was BLM—the same group that burned Ferguson—La Rasa, communists, anarchists, and other assorted anti-American leftists. Trump didn’t radicalize a single one of them.

Btw, Bill Ayers was there too. Did Trump radicalize him, too?

I respect, but disagree with your assessment, this is no time to be nice. Our enemies are playing for keeps, and just waving the Constitution at this point isn’t going to work against them.

At a minimum this shows that Ted does not learn from his mistakes. The only way that I can give him the benefit of a doubt is to blame this blind spot on his training as a trial lawyer. Law schools and jihad mullahs are the primary purveyors of the “shared blame” moral argument. Less charitably, one can infer that issues of moral clarity become murky to Ted when he thinks that he can gain an advantage by blaming victims (this too is a trial lawyer’s mindset). Every muslim condemnation of terrorist acts is followed by the obligatory “but.....”

Absolutely true that! I fully agree with you. The attack on Trump is shameful and criminal there is no excuse for it, or for the Bernie Sanders Communist party.

Could you imagine a Trump rally going to go visit a Bernie campaign speech next? I can, and that does prove Ted’s point.
