Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump Is to Blame for Violence at His Rallies
NY Times ^ | 3/11/16 | Matt Flegenheimer

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for “creating an environment” that encourages violence at his events.

Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the “protesters who took violence into their own hands” were responsible for the episode.

“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.

“When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates,” Mr. Cruz said. “And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.”

"Protesters took violence into their own hands" - what as opposed to leaving violence in the hands of the professionals - like that Ayers guy?

"Responsibility starts at the top" - Now Mr. Former AJ, let's start with evidence. Who organized the protests who were the leaders of this conspiracy? You say Trump and join Nifong in prosecutorial irresponsibility. These are your professional standards Mr. Curz?

That is my thought, too. The silent majority in Illinois are sick and tired of being dictated to by thugs, and the thugs are trying to keep control by intimidation. It will be interesting come November to see if the general population has to run the gauntlet to vote in some areas as was done in the last election.

So, suppressing your opposition through violence is OK when your guy does it, but bad when the opposition does it?

False equivalence, of course...in the case of each, the disrupters came to our rallies and tried to shut us up.

Mere technicality in your mind?

Just what the country needs. American version of a cheese-eating surrender monkey. Get out of the cart. We’re tired of pulling the likes of you around.

I have watched Trump give too much attention to the disrupters in his audience...giving hem more time than they deserve. Provoking them. It happened yesterday in St. Louis.

I don’t think he’s to “blame”. I think obama and his racist policies are to blame.

That being said, I support Ted Cruz. I have never ever liked or trusted Donald Trump. He’s a total huckster and will say what people want to hear to promote himself.

Let the fur begin to fly...........

>>Cruz has NOT been “ bought off” by ANY organization. He has simply brought to the attention that many times we “ egg on and encourage violence “ by our words...THAT is NOT getting in bed with them.

BS! He says that we egg on and encourage violence by saying that muslim immigration must stop until we can find a way to vet them properly and that we egg on and encourage violence by talk of building walls and deporting illegal aliens.

The Harvard-educated lawyer and career politician is always going to side with the Cheap Labor Express. He’ll wrap himself in the flag and wave the Constitution in your face as a distraction, but in the end, he will always choose Globalism.

Cruz is a fraud

Trump will build the wall if elected

Trump will stop China. China is about to destroy all U.S. industry with TPP(Obamatrade) that Cruz is for

Trump will stop Iran (all of them and Cruz voted for the Corker bill that is now allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons)

The GOpe, the media, the world establishment , the left, are out to destroy Trump at all costs.

It’s because Trump is the only one that is for America and for freedom.

Politicians have done nothing good for America. We still have some jobs and opportunity not because of politicians and government but in spite of them and because of the little capitalism we have left.

Trump is the last hope for America

You just described Ted Cruz to a “T”. Take off the blinders and get a clue.

The Donald is not the victim...he alone has created a truly nasty political environment...this is now bearing fruit...the potential for violent protest!

Sure he is. We have a bunch of ferals acting like they always do, only this time you shills are blaming HIM for it.

Your GOPe candidate, Ted Cruz had a chance to stand up for the Constitution last night & failed. He tried to score political point instead.

All these Gope idiots should realize the same thing would happen to them too, if they were in the lead.

I doubt it, Trump would never stoop so low as to hire thugs to protest at a rally. Looks like that is what the gope just did, because why would the left hire these thugs now, it’s way too early. Remember, the gope rally cry: stop Trump.
