This is quite stunning even for a politician as low as Ted Cruz. Senator Cruz has a prime opportunity to highlight the intolerance of the left. Instead he choses to attack Donald Trump:
At a media availability in Chicago, Ted Cruz basically blamed Donald Trump for the violence and protests that occurred earlier in the day at a Donald Trump rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Don’t be stupid. Those folks wanted to attend a rally and were being intimidated, physically attacked by an organized violent assault. They wanted to go to a rally, not be part of an organized attack.
Did you want Trump to risk not only himself, but more innocent people being physically attacked?

But you have to understand that when someone like Cruz says something dumb like this, it's just like saying that Trump caused the problem. Cruz should lay aside his petty differences with Trump and condemn the protesters. Even Rubio did a better job, although by no means perfect.

I'll give Trump as pass on this. Clearly, security at the event was overwhelmed. Also, consider the optics if he had gone ahead and made a speech in front of a crowd with so many hostile protesters. Nothing good could have come of it.
You may well be right (and I hope so). Trump may also get some positive ratings with the general public as well. Seeing these lunatic protesters and the way they behaved is a turn off to any objective person.
Cruz is just as responsible for creating this negative atmosphere as Trump. You Cruz supporters know this right? Being a Conservatives invites violence from the Left. There’s no way of avoiding this

I think Cruz accepted about a week ago that Trump is going to win. That’s why he JUMPED into bed with Romney and the Bushes et al and is now trying to stop Trump anyway they can. If they do stop Trump with their BS crap I guarantee the people will be in the streets and there will be anarchy and the Trump voters will stay home or write in his name.
Cruz knows this and tonight he sealed the deal. So, I guess they still believe they can win without their base.

Me too….only a few weeks ago my tagline was Trump/Cruz 2016. I hate Ted now, this is like the end of invasion of the body snatchers with Donald Sutherland type betrayal.
So glad you got home safely. I remember trying to get home in a city after MLK was assassinated. It was scary. Could you describe what these professional agitators looked like— approximate age (students or older), black or white, dreadlocks-shaved heads-long hair-crew cuts, carrying signs saying what? At least it seems to have not gotten as bad as in Baltimore last year. There you have the edifying picture, second row left of a guy with a BLACK LIVES MATTER hoodie throwing a barricade, not to mention things burning.
