Cruz, Rubio and Kasich criticize Trump for creating ‘environment’ for Chicago protest
The Washington Post ^ | March 11, 2015 | David Weigel

Posted on 03/11/2016 8:31:56 PM PST by lonestar67

"The responsibility for that lies with protesters, who took violence into their own hands. But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of a campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord," Cruz said

Where did Cruz say anything against the First Amendment?

He said that Trump is responsible for the culture of his campaign. I’ve heard people here talk about how warm and caring and dynamic his campaign events are. I’m sure they attribute that to Trump. The reverse is also true - if the culture is violent, rude, libelous, etc, then Trump might do well to ask himself if he needs to do something different.

BLM will be violent regardless of what anybody says or does, and I think Cruz acknowledged that when he said that those who took violence upon themselves are responsible for that.

But the verbal slams, ridicule, tough-man talk, etc of Trump does encourage his supporters to be the same. And the threads here reflect that. Sure, the First Amendment gives everybody the right to be that way, and Cruz has never said otherwise. But it’s not particularly helpful, especially when we’ve got a LOT of old alliances that need to be rebuilt after Obama’s time of destruction.

I’m sorry we all can’t be as perfect as Jesus. And Trump’s words were words of reaction, not incitement. he said them after a protester had already used violence against peaceful Trump supporters, some of them children. First and foremost, Trump is a parent and I took it as his parental instincts kicking in. I know, I have been in that same situation and sadly we are not equipped to be the picture of perfection you are shoving down our throats. Yes we try, but I don’t read anywhere in the bible that God expects absolute perfection.

You are promoting political correctness. Jesus did not promote this and it is this type of politically correct attitude that is destroying our nation from within that you are promulgating. Go home and read your bible!

Can any Trump supporter on this thread post just one post that makes no verbal attempt to destroy the person they respond to? Just one post?

Can’t you guys see that every post you make is proving Cruz’s point - that the tone set by the leader sets the culture of that movement?

While we realize you respect your spouse, “the reverse is also true.”

You’re peddling BS.

I hear what you’re saying. As a parent, I realize that sometimes my reactions are hurtful to my children even when well-intentioned.

Why is everybody condemning Cruz for simply saying that each person is responsible for their own actions and yet our words and attitudes do have an impact on other people? It seems pretty basic to me, so why is everybody calling him terrible things for simply saying it?

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? There are plenty of neutral posts, so maybe you should try seeing the other person’s side instead of consistently condemning them and maybe you just might receive a respectful reply. You are pushing biblical BS that does not apply to anything Donald Trump said as a reaction to an unprovoked violent attack by a protester. I now my bible, probably better than you and so I say this in kindness...go home and read your bible and then apply it as it is written, not as it is twisted from the pulpits.

Sorry dude, but you and your kin gave up all your right to civil discourse months ago with the ‘cultist’ meme and you kept doubling down on it. It’s a little too late to start whining and crying for us to be nice to you now.

Especially now that we get to see who the real cultists are.

Your god-king Cruz is a phony.

HA HA HA.

Trump is plenty conservative where it matters most, which is in the areas of immigration, borders, trade, taxes, military, national security, bloated government, political correctness, national debt, health care, federal regulations, the economy, 2nd Amendment, education, to name a few.

I seriously have no patience with anyone who wants to start quibbling over Trump’s alleged lack of conservative bona fides when he’s right on the money in all those areas.

In addition to having the right orientation on all the things I just mentioned, he’s also the only candidate in either party who has the requisite level of executive experience to actually accomplish anything in those critical zones. Few of the others have ever done an honest day’s work in their lives, and are only expert at running their mouths.

Ted Cruz has perfected untruthfulness

Words are not violent, people are

Therefore, your point was?

Last night I mentioned that Michael Gergen and Neil Bush were gleeful on CNN. NEIL BUSH — newest member of the CRUZ CAMPAIGN. I wouldn’t put it past him to be involved.

Then someone reminded me that “Bush=Clinton=GOPe=Commies.

They use Marxist tactics, from A-Z. Middle America will now get to see it and maybe more will wake up.”

When this exists: “Bush=Clinton=GOPe=Commies”, two other connections can be made: “Bush=Cruz” and “Bush=Rove”.

Rove was one of the attendees of the Mar. 7 SECRET meeting in Georgia on how to stop the populist GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. Here’s list of some attendees:
Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.)
Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.)
Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.)
Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio)
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.)
Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.)
Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.)
Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas)
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.)
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.)
Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.)
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas)
Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.)
Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.)

There’s no way at least Cruz, via his Bush connection, and possibly Rubio, didn’t have a hand in orchestrating the violence. Then they go on TV and say that the violent protestors had their right of free speech, but Trump and his audience did not have that same right. When you’re aligning with Bill Ayers, Bernie Sanders, and MSM, you’re one of them.

Are you proud?

I haven’t read this whole thread so maybe there are some “neutral posts” as you’ve said. I just know that the people who have spoken to me have been verbally violent - using words that are designed to belittle and hurt. Your words have been more willing to engage but I don’t think you’re really hearing me either.

I have simply said what Cruz actually said, rather than the baloney people are saying about him siding with BLM, throwing out the First Amendment, etc. Yet almost every post to me in this thread has been name-calling or “Well YOUR guy is a liar and creep, etc. so NYEAH”. Apparently nobody can even understand my words saying I don’t care which guy is elected POTUS. I don’t have “a guy” in this race. I’ve been accused of being a cultist and/or following a cultist. Etc.

Those words are meant to change the subject. They know Cruz didn’t say any of those things that they claimed he did, and it makes them mad that I noticed and spelled it out. So they try to hurt me.

It’s sad.

Life is too short to waste it on this.

Cruz said that the “political climate” was created by Trump’s words. This is a bald face lie. Trump has merely been given a platform to get the same words we the people have been speaking for years. Ted Cruz is nothing more than Obama 2.0, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, beginning with the lie that he is a natural born citizen. He is a naturalized citizen, he is supporter of our nation & its laws.

Whoa! You’re saying the R’s told BLM, moveon, Bill Ayers, etc to do this in Chicago?

I’d like to see your documentation for that, please, - or anything that suggests that any of these people have influence over those thugs.

“But the verbal slams, ridicule, tough-man talk, etc of Trump does encourage his supporters to be the same.”

You’ve bought into the setup that’s been amping up for a few days, and I’m sorry for you.

In the end, a person committing a crime is responsible for his/her own actions. Lack of impulse control isn’t an excuse.

When Cruz aligns himself with Bill Ayers, Bernie Sanders, and MSM, he’s one of them.

Correction: Cruz said that the “political climate” was created by Trump’s words. This is a bald face lie. Trump has merely been given a platform to get the same words we the people have been speaking for years. Ted Cruz is nothing more than Obama 2.0, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, beginning with the lie that he is a natural born citizen. He is a naturalized citizen, he is NOT a supporter of our nation & its laws. The oath of office he took to uphold and protect the Constitution was empty words.
