"The responsibility for that lies with protesters, who took violence into their own hands. But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of a campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord," Cruz said

I don’t feel that I have been nailed.
I posted this article because Trumpsters are trying to misrepresent Cruz’s comments about the event.
Trump is reckless with his words. That does not mean that the protesters are not to blame it means that Trump is playing along by giving them fuel for their fire.
People on Twitter never lie.
I’ve seen the “I was for Cruz but not now” posts here often enough to be curious enough to look at their previous posts. 90% BS.
Only one guy I looked at had ever posted anything positive about Cruz and that was back in January.
Being loud and obnoxious is not the same as being violent. In the video I saw the protestors weren’t hitting anyone. I saw people at the rally pushing and shoving the protestors. Only security should have been removing them. I never in a million years thought I would be defending a bunch of loony protestors, but the violence I saw was not from them.
Cruz is a pussy who has never been one to stand up and fight when it really matters. Ivy league lightweight who needs to run home to Mommy
Ted Cruz is conservative
I have no doubt about that and he has sacrificed for that.
If Sessions had endorsed Cruz you would say he was not conservative .
Ted Cruz said violent protests are the predictable consequence of the atmosphere Trumps campaign has created, while Bernie Sanders had his own strong words for the Republican presidential candidate.
Cool! Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders are two peas in a pod! Who woulda thunk it?
Glenn Beck had some of his flock out there tonight, as well. Video was posted on another thread.
No kidding. It's sometimes hard for me to believe that some conservatives are still out to lunch on what's occurring here.
We're witnessing history, and some of them are standing there trying to apply the usual political templates and formulas to it. It just boggles the mind.
I never said surrender, we should never cower before political protest, terrorism, or criminals. However such is more effective to a political cause the creation if hostility, or winning where it matters most the ballot boxes. All this protest does if they continue is allow Obama to declare martial law and halt the election.
I did and I don’t disagree. Posts on this website is proof. Very nasty environment that was never necessary.
Dude, the article says that IN NOVEMBER he suggested a Black Lives Matter person should have been roughed up. NOVEMBER? Does this whole situation not set off your spider senses?
Does it pass the smell test?
The issues weren’t beating the guy. The opponents weren’t. The debates weren’t. Today we get articles alluding to arming oneself for these rallies. Obama gives a speech about it. Then tonight happens. Coincidence? Really?
The GOPe candidates, plus Cruz say “well gee, that stuff you said” really created a tone. Unbelievable. NOVEMBER COMMENTS = RESPONSIBILITY FOR VIOLENCE IN MARCH ON THE SAME DAY OBAMA TALKS VIOLENCE AT TRUMP RALLIES.
Crazy thought. Maybe Obama was giving the go-ahead. And Rubio, Kasich, and Cruz sounded pretty much like Sanders and Hillary in their response. Guess we know where they stand. And their supporters.
Right—
This is the same profane speech used by dear leader Trump.
It is hateful profane speech designed to incite violence.
There you go.
Cruz did NOT blame Donald Trump.
Trump certainly has the right to have his rally unencumbered. Equally, the protesters have every right to show up and protest just about as loudly and obnoxiously as they like — as long as it’s peaceful and they don’t try to disrupt.
Now, I will say that I think Trump selected a place for the event that was probably unwise. Another location might have reduced this problem. Having it on the college campus made it way too easy for the protesters to do what they do.
A lot of violence seems to follow Trump. He has personally threatened demonstrators and asked his supporters to punch them out. His campaign manager attacked a reporter simply for asking a question. His supporters have violently attacked minority protesters. But somehow, that has nothing to do with him.
So you can say that something about his campaign is fostering such an environment.
Welcome to FR, newbie.
Amazing how new members feel free to tell long time members they don't belong. Sure does tell us where the country is headed.
I agree, Trump very much created the environment for these riots.

How are you tonight, Mr. Troll?
Trump trap.
I think there are a few who knew it was a Trump Trap.
Chris Matthews on MSNBC, was the only commentator on the right track.
Rally on a Chicago evening, Friday night, downtown College Campus
Sun Tzu Trump
Weigel is journolister who was a fake WaPo “conservative” a few years back.
You done with the Booby Kennedy yoga thing?
“Stuff it, Cruzbag.”
Trump supporters, proving Cruz right whenever possible.
This is the seed that Trump planted.
You are a fascist
