Jersey City's former IT director says he was fired after a mayoral aide spotted right-wing posts on his Facebook page, posts that slammed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and criticized moves to accept Syrian refugees into the country.
The city's decision to terminate Alan Guglielmi came after the city spent more than a year searching for someone to lead its IT department, and less than three weeks after Guglielmi was hired. The 70-year-old North Arlington man said he's hoping to hire an attorney to help him win his job back.
"I think my First Amendment rights have been infringed upon," he told The Jersey Journal.

Welcome to Jersey City, SSR.
Mayor Stevie Fulop as Democrat phony as you can get.
Guglelemi sounds foreign. I don’t trust him..
I kid.. I kid
Would like to believe this is the entire story, but usually there is more to these situations...
Don’t use Facebook.
You were fired for being on your personal web page while at work.
He should enter the city’s computer back door and disable it all for few days
He posts stuff publicly then worries that his first amendment rights were threatened.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Huh. Good luck. Now if he had written on a tablet with the Ten Commandments on it then...nope, nope. Good luck.
If he was on the cities time and other employees aren’t allowed to be on facebook and there’s a rule against it. Then he may have a case but only if 1 offense equals termanation.
I’m a Trump supporter so I’m low info.....
Well they would hang most FReeps.....
I missed that when I read the story, could post where that was stated?
Think before speaking. Think twice before texting. Think three times before posting.
In other words, don't express an opinion? Welcome to 1984.
He started on Jan. 25, he said, and two weeks later received a call from an aide to Mayor Steve Fulop who told him he had heard Guglielmi had posted some questionable items on Facebook and that he should delete them. Guglielmi said he had posted the items before he was hired.
Maybe your right.
Just my knee jerk reaction from living in a state where absolutely no reason is needed for termination. Its easy to come up with a reason to fire someone that doesnt break federal law.
And apparently this place aint telling why any ways.
I detest muslims muslims too. But I don’t put anything on facebook mostly because I hate Mark Zuckerberg. I won’t finance his sewer web site.
So, what happens if any of us here are identified by liberal politicians and government employees as being FReepers?
Because if they think Facebook is bad, they’d be shocked by postings here!
Screw them. I hope he wins big.
I always hear that it is easy to terminate people, but when I ran Fast food in California I had to have my documentation ironclad, otherwise I was going to get pounded, especially since the business was a McD’s, in a state unemployment grievance hearing, kept me from firing a worthless manager until my records were foolproof. And that’s here in California where it’s supposed to oh so easy.
