Why I support Trump — and resent the elites trying to destroy him- NY Post
New York Post ^ | March 5, 2016 | John C. KlugeT

"Let me say up front that I am a lifelong Republican and conservative. I have never voted for a Democrat in my life and have voted in every presidential and midterm election since 1988. I have never in my life considered myself anything but a conservative. I am pained to admit that the conservative media and many conservatives’ reaction to Donald Trump has caused me to no longer consider myself part of the movement."

He gave money to both parties as did pretty much all very rich business guys. At least he used his own money to do stuff, unlike the professional politicians.

Take the nomination from Trump with a brokered convention and the Republican Party is an after thought years later when history said: “There was this party, but they wouldn’t back their front runner who was running solid for months but wanted an ‘establishment’ person instead of someone who was for putting America, remember that is what this place used to be called, back on her feet”....

“You are supporting a man who gave money to the clinton’s.”

Did you ever support...... Former first lady Laura Bush, Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch, former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Sen. John McCain, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, Republican billionaire T. Boone Pickens, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former Bush Treasury secretary Hank Paulson, and former first daughter Barbara Bush?

They ALL contributed to the Clinton Foundation too, and the Bush family has all but adopted Bill Clinton.

The Bushes aren’t running in case you missed it. But Trump’s bud Hillary Clinton is running.

If Trump can triumph over both the Clinton and Bush crime dynasties, it would be an historic year- 2016, a year to remember.

The writer makes some good points. I don't agree with him on all of them, but overall, he makes some excellent arguments. Especially the hypocrisy of the GOP establishment giving us failed “moderate” candidates repeatedly, but now attacking Trump for not being conservative enough. Or Republican enough. As if that is what they really want. No, the truth is, the GOPe would rather have Hillary. That fact alone is enough to turn me into a Trump supporter.

“Honestly, what really turns me off from Trump is what I see as political nihilism towards just about everyone who isn’t Trump.”

Cult of personality. Always a scary thing.

Trump may not have been right to say that we need to stop letting more Muslims into the country or, at least, examine the issue...

Of course he was right.

“And Trump hired illegals. You can’t trust anything out of him.”

People must enjoy gossip, because that’s all that is....a contractor who worked on one of his projects hired aliens. Not Trump.

The better way to understand this current situation is tounderstand the divide in Conservatism between the Dogmatics vrs the Realists.

***

I remember an argument I had with some Freepers a few weeks back when the whole PP meme was in full swing.

They told me that they would refuse to accept and and fight against any law restricting abortion except for a complete ban.

I called them sick freaks for sacrificing unborn lives for the sake of their dogma.

Things went downhill from there.

The GOPe’s definition of “constitutional conservatism” would have Americans believe the the Constitution was meant to be a suicide pack, and the conservatism of our founding fathers was meant to be used as license to cannibalize America’s wealth with unfair trade pacts and to supplant the America people with foreign illegal invaders and rubber-stamped unvetted legal immigrants.

If the choice is between American patriotism and sovereignty and GOPe “conservatism,” I’ll chose the former - just as our founding fathers did.

That’s the truth. Not the “ideologues vs. pragmatists” as posited above.

Don’t forget the money he donated to Romney. Did you forget? I think you forgot.
