"Let me say up front that I am a lifelong Republican and conservative. I have never voted for a Democrat in my life and have voted in every presidential and midterm election since 1988. I have never in my life considered myself anything but a conservative. I am pained to admit that the conservative media and many conservatives reaction to Donald Trump has caused me to no longer consider myself part of the movement."

One of the really good points: “Donald Trump is the only Republican candidate who seems to have any inclination to act strictly in Americas interest. More importantly, he is the only Republican candidate who is willing to even address the problem. Trump may not have been right to say that we need to stop letting more Muslims into the country or, at least, examine the issue, but he wasnt crazy to suggest it either. And like when he said the obvious about Iraq, the first people to condemn him and deny the obvious were conservatives. Somehow, being conservative now means denying the obvious and saying idiotic fantasies like Islam is always peaceful or Our war is not with a radical strain of Islam. Uh, sorry, but no it is not, and yes it is. And if getting a president who at least understands that means voting for Trump, then I guess I am not a conservative.”
Amen brother.
And I am a lifelong Democrat but I cannot support HilLIARy
(wow! thats really easy)
Take the nomination from Trump with a brokered convention and I am done with the GOP forever.
The better way to understand this current situation is tounderstand the divide in Conservatism between the Dogmatics vrs the Realists.
This is an old divide in Conservatism. The Dogmatist care nothing about political realities, only the purity of the dogma matters to them. The Realist understands you have to be able to advance the political ball down the field to achieve the goals of the dogma.
Reagan, who was a realist, wrote about it.
By Ronald Reagan in his autobiography An American Life
When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didnt like it. Compromise was a dirty word to them and they wouldnt face the fact that we couldnt get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you dont get it all, some said, dont take anything. Id learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average. If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and thats what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.
You could say all those things about Ted Cruz plus he has been in public office so you know it’s not just talk. All you have with Trump is talk.
Bump.
Trump is a doer..better check your facts. Cruz is a hired globalist. You can’t trust hirelings.
No — Cruz is a doer and a conservative. When it comes to politics Trump is a talker. The only thing he has done when it comes to politics is donate money to the Clintons and Pelosi.
Look — if you prefer Trump taht is fine.. but don’t make up stuff to somehow justify your choice.
Ok. If we are getting this sophmoric I could post a picture of trump and the Clintons ... plus Trump gave money to them.
The Bush Family has run the Republican since 1988. No more Bush influence in the White House.
If the choice is between American patriotism and sovereignty and GOPe "conservatism," I'll chose the former - just as our founding fathers did.
No more Bush family loser leadership. No more Bush influence in the White House.
But trump is not a Bush! Oh, he just hired on the Bush family.
Carly has endorsed Cruz! But she was trashing him just days ago.
Down is up, up is down....
Cruz hired the Bush to run finance.
I like that video of George W bush. Nice. The Bushes aren’t running in case you missed it. But Trump’s bud Hillary Clinton is running.
You’re almost right. Cruz is a TALKER AND A DOER.
Unfortunately that talker never results in anything and the doer results in things like TPP.
I’m a lifelong (conservative) Republican and cannot support Trump.
