Clinton would edge out Trump by 13 points in a one-on-one vote, 51 percent to 38 percent, in the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey.
Trump, the controversial GOP front-runner, would lose even more soundly to Bernie Sanders should the Independent Vermont senator secure the Democratic nomination.
Sanders bests Trump by 18 points, 55 to 37 percent. Sanders picked up a surprise win over Clinton in Michigan on Tuesday, though Clinton expanded her overall delegate lead.
By comparison, Trump's rivals Sens. Marco Rubio(D-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas) both fare better against the Democratic front-runner in the latest polling. Cruz and Rubio have stressed their electability in the GOP race.
Cruz trails Clinton by just 2 points, 47 to 45 percent, in a hypothetical matchup, while Rubio ties the former secretary of State at 46 percent each, according to the NBC/Journal poll.
Trump argued during a round of television interviews Wednesday morning that Republicans should unite behind him after his series of victories in the GOP race, including three on Tuesday night.
Trump, who has regularly boasted of his ability to defeat Clinton, said Wednesday on CNN that he thought she'd be the Democratic nominee.
He also argued on NBC's "Today" show that, if they united, "nobody could beat" the Republican Party.
The survey of 1,200 adults was conducted March 36 with an overall margin of error of 2.83 percent.
Every political activist of the center (most Republicrats) and the far left want to kill off Donald Trump. When our foreign buddies begin to pile on you have to know that Trump may be the real deal to break out of the shackles.
“NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey.”
The WALL Street Journal runs fake polls....we ALL know that by now I hope.
This poll has been consistently bad.
Is this Fred Barnes male husband ?
Really? If Cruz/Rubio are so universally loved in these polls, why aren’t they winning?
If she doesn’t end up in the slammer first. Bwahahahaha!
Let’s see WSJ or Homer Simpson? Homer Simpson or the WSJ?
Dang, what a quandary...
Which IS the least cartoon like?
Well if Clinton and Sanders can beat Trump easily, and Trump is easily beating the rest of the GOP field, I would say we are doomed, so we might as well keep Trump, at least he does a pretty good job of getting our message across to the GOP congress and hopefully some day they will hear it.
I’m pretty sure the nominee won’t be Hillary.
Question is.... can he beat the person it WILL be?
I believe it. First, the demographics in this country give the Democrats a lock on 254 EV’s already. Secondly, Trump is so vile, nasty and dishonest that it will sink the GOP ticket for good.
Stupid joke. Trump will put this corrupt fool out to pasture. Wake up and smell the roses.
Trump for President.
In a sane world, I would say there is NO way in H@LL that Shrillary beats ANY GOPer.... but sadly, we do not live in such a world any longer...
Junk polls from NBC/WSJ for several weeks now.
And Carter, Reagan, so they said:
Propaganda just not working anymore.
Uh huh, we can see that in the returns in Michigan...
