Trump: I'm 'Changing' My Position on Immigrant Visas
The Hill ^ | 3/3

Posted on 03/03/2016 7:16:20 PM PST by nickcarraway

Donald Trump on Thursday night said he's changing his stance on visas for highly skilled immigrant workers.

"I’m changing it, and I’m softening the position because we need to have talented people in this country," Trump said at the Fox News GOP debate in Michigan.

Trump's comments came after debate moderator Megyn Kelly raised the issue. Kelly noted that Trump had previously opposed those visas, saying they "decimate American workers," but appeared to change his position at an earlier CNBC debate. Trump said recipients of the visas go to high-profile U.S. universities and "desperately" want to remain in the country. He said they should be allowed to stay and work in places that need high-skilled workers, such as Silicon Valley.

"We need highly-skilled people in this country," Trump said. "For that purpose, we absolutely have to be able to keep the brainpower in this country."

I couldn’t agree more. We’re just creating stupid, lazy empty-headed liberals.

Yep. Tonight was bad for Trump. No equivocating that somehow Trump was misheard, Trump flat out said his position changed on H1B1. Even implied it was because he “studied the issue”.

He just sold out to Mark Zuckerberg and Paul Ryan.

The Wall is next. Screw him, I’m all in for Cruz now. No equivocating on my part either anymore.

Will she have to triangulate? It’s like the GOPe doesn’t even try to appear conservative.

Trump doesn’t have open border donors like Cruz...

Cruz doesn't have open borders donors. His 40 million dollar super PAC is run by David "Our Borders are Sacred" Barton.

now the Indians coming in are Teslla or Einstein?!?!?!

no, they’re low wage ####s who do the worst ####ing work I’ve ever seen.

tried to replace my gaphics dept at investment bank and they were SO BAD they closed in a year.

do you know how bad you have to be to close in a year???

Cruz was WRONG with his h1b crap/

Man up Trump people and say this is WRONG!!

evolving never works well. tell him to stop “evolving”. he listens to his twitter followers.

I got a nice that graduated college with business degree.

and up a hostess at Bonefish Grill at 10 an hour.

a MONTH later, doing their bookkeeping. 13 an hour.

a YEAR later restaurant office manager and a 15 thousand dollar raise!!!!

that’s my Italian blood that they have, which is part of the reason :), but it’s just American kids looking for a chance?

at least let’s stay united in training or hiring Americans!!!

slavery was the first outsourcing. Indentured servants of a sort was the second kind. This is the third.

outsourcing the Irish to fight the Civil War for the north unless they had 300 bucks wasn’t any better.

the first one was horrific, the second one sleazy, and the third one sleazy. With the Irish, it again falls under horrific.

it needs to end.

Well, guess what, folks? They all lie. Every politician says whatever it takes to get elected and then does whatever is best for him. It’s a giant scam and we fall for it every time. Our votes don’t count. Nothing changes. The politicians enrich themselves and exempt themselves from the rotten laws and regulations they force on the rest of us. I don’t have a solution, because I don’t think there is one.

Uniformly denying work visas for highly skilled talent likely displaces no one, and is also impractical for the Country.

Samsung just unveiled a 15T SSD Drive. The mathematics and microcode that went into that work is orders above the IT Skills of a Disney worker.

In every ‘crop’ of humans, there are rare geniuses that can create game-changers. When you’re in academia, you see the genetics of brains come from everywhere, similar to Olympic athletes.

When you’ve had that perspective and you see pols talking H1B and such, it becomes unbelievable to think laws will be passed to send Einstein home especially after you’ve worked with him, heard him, ate with him, hiked with him, or her. It just doesn’t make sense to send them home.

The problem is the abuse by the Cheap Labor Express. They have made it difficult for American scientists to keep their Tesla-like students in their labs without becoming embroiled in this political nonsense.

I’ve heard Donald talk on this before and I have confirmed that he gets it. The thing to get is there is a large divide between the rare genius (say the Russian physicist) and the vocational tech worker from India who works for cheap. Keep this distinction in mind!

So I don’t see Donald changing, but it’s confusing because he says he is changing.

What you are insinuating is that he is selling out to the Cheap Labor Express, that he is lying. That doesn’t make sense because he doesn’t need the CLE nor does he like lies as confirmed in a recent interview by his wife who is very believable.

We will have to wait until he clarifies what he says about this ‘change’.

Will the foreign college graduates work as baristas while waiting for a job like so many American students do? I’ll bet they have jobs waiting with some contractor that will place them in a job that puts an American out of work.

Posted on Donald Trump’s FB page 8 minutes ago:

DONALD J. TRUMP POSITION ON VISAS

“Megyn Kelly asked about highly-skilled immigration. The H-1B program is neither high-skilled nor immigration: these are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

# 209.

India is more than a billion people. They have some rare Einsteins from there. I have collaborated with some.

Now read #209 and learn. I can tell your level of tech is vocational. You are not a scientist which is a different breed. But you should be able to understand there are distinctions here that more learned people deal with.

What is it with you anti-Trump people, and your desire to talk like a homosexual to folks who disagree with you?

Are you a homosexual?

Why are you so focused on homosexual sex?

If you are a frustrated homosexual, why don’t you got to rear ends dot com, and have your fun over there.

We straight folks will remain here.

""We need highly-skilled people in this country," Trump said. "For that purpose, we absolutely have to be able to keep the brainpower in this country.""

That's always been true, but until the practice to treating them like consumables ends there will never be enough.

i’m sorry man. Keep the several dozen indian “einsteins”

he’s talking about bringing in more.

and I fully believe we could survive quite well without the indian “einsteins”

we have 350 million people.

now all of a sudden all of them are ####ing dumb/

there must be thousands of Einteins that are American.

i’m sorry.

I know you look down at my lack of knowledge in the area.

but my overabundance of street smarts from working in three different investment banks, tells me this is about cheap labor.

he needs to clarify.

WHAT positions can’t be filled by americans. Why?

why aLL those degress held by americans aren’t good enough, etc.

because I worked with Indians in investment banks.

one was so dumb and stubborn that he couldn’t admit he couldn’t start the 10th page of a document as page 1 through 3.

it took me 40 seconds. he sat thee for an hour

forgive my doubts.

In case anyone missed it Ted Cruz told megyn Kelly after the debate the Establishment plan to take the nomination to a floor vote would blow up in their face.

So all you trump fans claiming Cruz had to take a stand can now publicly thank him for the support! /s

He never had to sell out, he was always part of that. That doesn’t make sense because he doesn’t need the CLE

Ugh, you do know he had an occupation before he got into Reality TV. I guess you didn't know he was a real estate developer. That industry is dependent on illegal labor. That's why he bashed Romney as, 'too tough' on immigration in 2012.
