The Justice Department has granted immunity to a former State Department staffer, who worked on Hillary Clinton’s private email server, as part of a criminal investigation into the possible mishandling of classified information, according to a senior law enforcement official.
The official said the FBI had secured the cooperation of Bryan Pagliano, who worked on Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign before setting up the server in her New York home in 2009.

That means he is helping the FBI.
Hillary is toast.
He also needs witness protection...

I don’t think they have to power to grant immunity from prosecution. Only the AG can do that.
But they could have put the AG between a rock and a hard place and forced her hand.

Lying under oath, with or without immunity, is perjury. Further, this is the way immunity works: a witness's lawyer tells gives Justice a hypothetical outline of what the witness would testify to, if he were granted immunity. If Justice/FBI could use what they heard, they'd grant that witness immunity. If the witness got up there and said something different than he'd said he would during immunity negotiations, Justice/FBI would say, “Deal’s off; you lose immunity.” Then Justice/FBI would proceed to prosecute the witness for perjury, as well as for any other crimes for which he no longer has immunity.

Give it another thirty days. There will be a breaking news FBI presser and this is similiar to what will be announced:
“After a year long, exhaustive investigation by our best teams in the bureau, after reviewing thousands of documents, emails and interviewing hundreds of people, even to the point of granting immunity, we have found that there were some innocent mistakes and unintentional mishandling of emails. However, we have found there wasn’t any criminal intent on the part of Ms. Clinton. Therefore, this matter will not be prosecuted and we consider this investigation concluded.”
HILLARY WILL RETURN TO THE THRONE AND WILL BE ELECTED.
Needs to be put off till Jan 20, 2017 so that the Trump Justice dept can pursue it without any chance of violating her Fifth right ...nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice...

He would have to have proffered information to get the immunity. The information must be damaging or they would not have granted the immunity. If he goes back on it now he is in big trouble. I am cautiously optimistic this means they will nail the beast.
So then under your explained definition even if the witness was knowingly in collaboration with Hillary in breaking thew law he won’t face any consequences only if what he testifies is opposite of his agreed statements beforehand. Either there is really evidence against Hellary or this is all for show and games or results in some other fuzzy obfuscations?

I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding is that most offers of immunity stipulate that the witness must give truthful testimony. If the witness gives false testimony on the stand, not only is there the possibility of a perjury charge but the immunity deal is rescinded.
Immunity will be outlined and cover X crime for X period.
If perjury is committed it is a new felony that will not be covered.
Judge Andrew Napolitano explained the Federal immunity process this morning on Fox News, he said for immunity to be given, the FBI has the evidence and needs the testimony for the Grand Jury. He also said a Grand Jury has been convened and he expects an indictment for someone in May. Who might that be, that’s the million dollar question???
