Mitt Romney's Top Strategist Says Hillary Clinton Would Be A Better President Than Donald Trump

Stuart Stevens called Trump "a dangerous person" and "someone who would embarrass America."

The Republican Party's top strategist in the 2012 election would rather see Hillary Clinton as the next president than Donald Trump.

"Personally, I think Hillary Clinton would be a better president than Donald Trump because I think that Donald Trump is a dangerous person and is someone who would embarrass America," Stuart Stevens, who advised 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, said Tuesday on Bloomberg's "With All Due Respect."

"I have no desire to see Hillary Clinton as president of the United States," he added. "But if this is the choice -- I will not give her my vote, but I can't support Donald Trump."

Stevens joins a growing number of Republicans who are speaking out and pledging not to back Trump if he wins the GOP nomination. Rep. Scott Rigell (R-Va.) emailed supporters Tuesday and said he refuses to back someone "so lacking in the judgement, temperament and character needed to be our nation's commander-in-chief." Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) said he will look for a third-party candidate if Trump makes it to the general election....

Even if Trump were to lose, he has utterly exposed the GOP for the fraud that it is. They only represent a very small elite donor and pundit class. They are on the verge of losing for a generation.
They simply do not have the interests of the American people at heart.

Yep. I have fallen on the anti-Trump side in the primary, but all-in for the general. A Hillary Clinton presidency is the end. 2-3 more liberal justices, baked-in healthcare debacle. Corrupt as hell. I have concerns about Trump, but they pale in comparison. He’s a smart, successful person, vs the grifters.

This is why we never got any conservative policies from the Republicans when they ran Washington during the Bush years, and when they’ve run Congess the last two years. They really do agree with Hillary, and they lie to us at election time

And Rush is their mouthpiece and defender, year in and year out. I stopped listening midway thru Bush’s presidency because Rush’s cheerleading for Bush, despite all the liberalism, was so disgusting

Exactly. They really don’t mind Hillary, it’s just that they would miss out on the brand royalties since she won’t be GOP. They already know that the whole royalty scam will be upended by Trump, so at least with Hillary they have hope for the future.

It seems to me these type of statements are just evidence that these insiders, elites or whatever you want to call them who are running our country ....

Are just wrong. There is no way from a true republican or conservative viewpoint that Hillary could be viewed as a better president than Trump.

The only substantive knock on Trump is he might not be as conservative as he claims, therefore somewhat liberal.

Therefore Hillary, as a complete leftist cannot be better.

I’m unaware of any position by Trump which is at great variance with the GOP’s claimed position.

Further, if it is based on measures of corruption, bigotry, stupidity, dishonesty, irresponsibility, you’ve got to be kidding me Hillary “wins” hands down in every category.

Trump is smoking out the real problem with the GOP. This is why the party needs reformation before it becomes completely irrelevant.

Let me paraphrase this:

1. You're stupid.
2. We never cared who you voted for.

Thus the reason Romney didn’t fight to win!

He LIKES liberals and believe they can govern!
