CNN/ORC National Poll – Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz Suffer Stunning Drops, Trump and Carson Gain…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | 2/29/2016 | Sundance

A new CNN/ORC national poll (full pdf below) is being highlighted in the media discussion based on the top-line results: Donald Trump 49% !

However, that’s not the real headline in the data. The real lead story should be the damage Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have done to themselves as they continue a scorched-earth campaign.

The first signals of a backlash appeared over the weekend’s polling when it became clear Senator Rubio and Senator Cruz where losing support at an exponential rate the longer they continued to make unfounded accusations. Donald Trump and Ben Carson are benefactors of the Rubio/Cruz kamikaze mission.

I guess the Trumpsters are feeling doubts about tomorrow.

Yeah, we may as well admit it.

We're all shaking in our boots here, worried sick that Ted's secret army is gonna show up at the last minute and obliterate Trump with their mythical ground game.

Scared to death, I tell ya.

Trump is more popular after the attacks because the attacks are dishonest.. It is phony outrage, based on trying to make him look like a racist and now with the internet and other forms of informing the voters, people know it is phony.. and they don’t like phony outrage...

Ha!

8 states would be nice.

But Texas would end Cruz. Florida would end Rubio.

Be nice to end this and then focus on the general. Hillary’s a weak, sickly old witch and will be lucky to avoid indictment before the election.

President Trump here we come!

RUBIO IS RUNNING A TV SPOT USING A RUSH QUOTE SAYING HE IS A REAGAN CONSERVATIVE.

Limbaugh may still be the biggest talk radio host but he's lost 6.5 million listeners from his peak. (Of course that assumes he ever had an audience of 20 million, which dates back to the nineties) This may not be any reflection on him personally, with the rise of podcasting the market has changed. It does mean he doesn't have the influence he once did.

Aren’t you from Texas?

What’s the mood out there?

I feel like Trump is going to clean up tomorrow but I’m not so sure about Texas.

What are your friends, neighbors and family saying? Who are they supporting?

Not just “some guy”, although to non-conservatives, perhaps that’s all Chief Justice Roy Moore is. Mrs. Moore has endorsed Ted Cruz. She’s already been referred to as CJ Moor’s “bedwarmer” because some cannot disagree without being insulting. So much for any degree of respect for a man who fought for the 10 Commandments and lost his judgeship only to be overwhelmingly re-elected later. If he’d be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, we’d be blessed with a true conservative.

Yeah, I’m in Texas.

I can tell you that every Republican who’s close to me is voting Trump. I don’t know a single person in my immediate circle who’s voting Cruz.

I’m in Pete Sessions’ district, so you might figure that folks in this area have a seething hate for establishment politicians at the moment. Could have a lot to do with it.

Still, this is Ted’s home ground. He’ll do alright here, but not near as well as he should. I think he’ll eke out a slim victory.

I think he will too, but wouldn’t it be something if Trump won them all?

My son likes Carson but he’ll probably vote for Trump. My husband and I will vote Trump. Most of the people we know or work with are going Trump, even my brother who went hard core dem to please his wife and in laws. (Shocker!)

He drives for a living and talk radio is waking his young butt up finally as it did me. :)

Even had they signed it, they would have broken it. I was done with the neoconservatives on the day in 1992 that Bill Bennett held a pouty press conference and said if Buchanan won the nomination, there would be a third party run by his buddies. I don’t think NH had even voted yet. I’ve never forgiven that POS and that fall I voted for Perot as a protest... I was still that angry... With those $#/@&/*, party loyalty is a one way street. I’ve never forgotten, and will never be fooled again. Have I voted for the establishment guy? Yup, over and over, because voting against Dems is just what I usually do. But I am relishing seeing Trump’s hand them their @$$’$ this year, even though I don’t really trust him yet.

Laura Ingraham had a great article on Rubio just today that encapsulates what I am talking about. The establishment literally made it clear that it would be Bush, Rubio, or nothing this year. Rubio is THAT bought and paid for.

Rubio has truly sold his soul to the neocon devil, and Cruz was mistaken to team up with him. He could have stood on his own two feet.

“I agree the wall will NEVER be built. People simply do not understand the issue.”

I agree with your first sentence. But people understand the issue just fine. There is too much power and money riding on leaving the border open. D’s want voters. Chamber of Commerce R’s want cheap labor.

Trump would have to get funding for the wall through congress over massive lobbying by those two groups. Not to mention all the NGO’s. All they have to do is get 40 votes in the Senate and the wall is done.

Congress may head fake a wall again. But they will quietly defund it a year later ala McCain when he was running for Senate.

The only exception I will allow to this is if Trump wins a landslide election over the D. He will have some time (6 months maybe) where he might have the political capital to push the wall through in principle and in appropriation. But then he will have to fight for eight years to actually make it happen.

Would you really like to know how simple it is to pay for the wall? There are 58Million dollars that go to Mexico in the form of money orders got it. The Donald asks congress they balk out comes the pen and a Executive Order saying there is a $5 fee called the WALL FEE on every money transfer and or money order between the USA and Mexico. In 3-4 years the wal is well paid for...very simple really. But then I am just a vet high school drop out...You highlyedumacted folks could not figure that out.
