In major blow to Ted Cruz, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama endorses Donald Trump for GOP nomination

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), whose hard-line conservative stances on immigration and trade have made him a favorite of the party’s base, endorsed Donald Trump's White House bid during a joint appearance here in his home state Sunday.

"Politicians have promised for 30 years to fix illegal immigration. Have they done it? Donald Trump will do it," Sessions said at the Madison City Schools Stadium, where thousands gathered to hear Trump speak. "I've told Donald Trump this isn’t a campaign, this is a movement."

This has to really sting Cruz and Beck plus Levin.

I would love to know if Cruz, Rubio, or the RNC are behind the KKK dirty tricks this week, From the actors in KKK robes in Nevada, to a question at a rally earlier this week, to the guy in the third with KKK for Trump, scribbled on it to Anderson Cooper asking about David Duke without noting he was a former grand wizard of the KKK. It is not an accident.

"May have happened if Trump hadn’t gone after Cruz’s character."

...Something the Cruz and Rubio- and the rest of the GOPe slimebags and everyone here who supports them- never did, right?

I would dare say that anyone who vows to vote for Hillary before voting for Trump would have voted for Hillary anyway.

I think Newt Gingrich could help Trump move anything through congress.

If Cruz actually got something done in the Senate instead of just talking about it, maybe he could have gotten the endorsement.

While Cruz supporters will take offense to that statement, the shoe fits for the most part. Cruz is still in his first term and other than his good intentions, he doesn't have much of a senatorial record so far. He pretty much started running for president as soon as he got to Capitol Hill. It would have been nice if he had put more time into building a record of accomplishment to run on.

Of course, Trump will be in the same position himself if he gets elected and then doesn't accomplish anything once in the White House. But knowing Trump and his past history, does anybody think that is going to happen? With Trump, I think he is going to be rock and rolling from Day One. I don't expect there will be many boring days in a Trump Administration.

If I was Ted Cruz, I would consider the fact that I am still only 44 years old and will have plenty of other chances to run for president. If I can drop out of the race and throw my support behind Trump, I will likely obtain a large and prominent role in his Administration, putting myself in good position not only to share in the success but to make a case to be his successor in either 2020 or 2024.

Cruz is counting on winning US Territories...Guam etc.
to come up with minimum 8 wins required to be eligible for nomination.

That tells me that fewer and fewer Conservatives are showing up at Free Republic each week - probably because they are tired of being mocked and insulted by Trump supporters.

Trump supporters are the real conservatives...Conservative don't support unfair trade, amnesty, invasion by muzlim terrorists or support Al Qaeda in Syria...And YES, we will still be here when Trump takes over...

Sessions is a real conservative.

Trump is not.

It ought to be pretty obvious Sessions disagrees with you...

There is a Mormon Cartel made up of officials from both parties. Make a list yourself of all the members of legislative branch with Mormon ties.

If you know yiur revolutionary history our founding fathers first knew each other through their Masonic affiliation.

The same can be said for these individuals. They know each other first through their religious affiliation. Then they support both financially and networking to get into positions of political persuasion. Nothing illegal just curious Be aware of it!

Sorry but Cruz started it in his private meeting with supporters that was made public the first of January. After that things escalated. Cruz can either bow out after winning Texas and maybe Arkansaw gracefully or he will lose what dignity he has left.

I'm betting that they all, and many Trump supporters here on FR will be very, conspicuously silent a year or two from now when Trump's true, leftist colors begin to shine through.

And yet you would like us to vote for Cruz whose delegates will go Rubio who we all know is seriously tilting left...You guys don't make any sense...

Hallelujah! Let it die and then build a better one from the ashes.

Cruz supporters should stop dreaming. Cruz does not have the personality to make people like him. Not ONE SINGLE of his 99 colleagues have endorsed him. That is abysmal.

I did not taunt you nor have I suggested Cruz “get out”. I support Trump thinking he is the best candidate and can win without Cruz dropping out. I do state the things I dislike about Cruz. Those who support Cruz do the same regarding Trump. Most can do it without the venom some have shown.

I have repeatedly said if you have read my posts that I think we all want what we think is best for America but that we disagree on what that is. I believe as Americans we have the right to our opinions without the name calling.

I am sick at the way some Cruz supporters are trashing Senator Sessions because he exercised his freedom as an American to support the candidate he chooses.

Sessions doesn’t represent me.

Cruz does.

Cruz is the solid conservative candidate. Trump despises conservatives.

Go Cruz!

The only candidate to ever beat trump and the gop establishment.
