Yahoo has begun shutting down some of its digital magazines as part of the struggling online pioneer’s latest reorganization plan.

In a blog post, Yahoo global editor in chief Martha Nelson announced plans to start phasing out some operations as it focuses on connecting with readers for news, sports, finance and lifestyle.

“To that end, today we will begin phasing out the following digital magazines: Yahoo Food, Yahoo Health, Yahoo Parenting, Yahoo Makers, Yahoo Travel, Yahoo Autos and Yahoo Real Estate,” Nelson said.

“While these digital magazines will no longer be published, you will continue to find the topics they covered, as well as style, celebrity, entertainment, politics, tech and much more across our network.”

Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer earlier this month announced “a strong plan calling for bold shifts in products and in resources” to help revive the company’s fortunes.

Oh, so that's what it's called.

Obviously, Marissa's Department of Personal Flackery is hitting on all four cylinders.

Only a matter of time before Yahoo gets bought out.

Marissa Mayer is like a younger version of Carly Fiorina.

They destroyed Yahoo Groups a while back. The on line usability is crap, the only way to use the service is to just use the emails - which, of course, don’t carry ads. A lot of users objected to the new format and the standard answer was “your opinion doesn’t count. Thank you for your opinion.”

These guys amaze me by how they’ve held on for 20 years.

They are like AOL. You know nobody that uses it, but millions do!

I'll miss Yahoo Parenting. The It Takes a Village approach to being a parent was always good for a few laughs.

Maybe instead of labeling their magazines by content, they should change to chapter notation...

Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 should be the most appropriate.

So posting 2-3 stories every hour on

Kardashians
Global Warming is going to kill you
Gay is normal
Every Black male is a victim of white male is racism.

is not drawing them in??

Gee, who would have thunk it

I’m sure their new format where you have to click 2-3 to get to the full version of a News Story and you can no longer find your previous comments will surely bring them riches

More like Depraved Liberal Parenting Magazine

Seriously, if anyone ever followed advice in Yahoo Parenting they should be brought up on child abuse charges.

Yahoo’s email service used to allow the user to sort emails alphabetically by sender. Why did they get rid of this useful feature?

Obama boot licker Mayer should just walk away, she gets her 120 million regardless. One of her first directives sealed her fate. Killed the work from home program while simultaneously have a very expensive nursery built adjacent to her Yahoo office for her toddler’s.

I have an account there but haven’t done much of anything with it in a few years.

For a while I had a smugmug.com pro account but turned it off too. I really don’t miss posting mass amounts of photos.
