In August of 2015, against considerable backlash, we stood firm on a fundamental position that Senator Ted Cruz did not have a pathway, a roadmap, to victory in the 2016 GOP presidential primary.
Despite the fundamentally sound reasoning for our prediction, which was entirely based on congressional district by district analytics, our position drew an immense amount of criticism and even a quick response from the Cruz campaign itself (Brian Phillips).
Unfortunately, tonight’s South Carolina results vindicate a massive amount of historical research. There simply is no pathway to victory when you rely almost exclusively on “proselytizing as an electoral strategy“:

It’s not personal, it is simply a factual reality. The Ted Cruz Road Map is non-existent; and beyond the SEC primary states there is little to no organization at all. Nothing in the state of Florida. The campaign is NOT what most people have been led to believe it is.
We strongly urge people to do their own research and to connect their own dots. The campaign will NOT stop sending you donation requests, that much is certain.
you’re a strange chap :)
you see when you say something like that, you are exaggerating to make a point or just rib people with a sense of humor.
Give me your address and i’ll mail you 40 bucks to buy one :)
Trump ferocity towards Cruz is for one reason and one reason only and that is to destroy him enough to get him to drop out. Then it is easy road for Trump to take out Rubio. His internal polling shows in a one on one with only Cruz he loses. His polling shows he can cream Rubio though so he has almost left him alone. But Cruz, he has to destroy him or Trump goes back to stealing his own bath towels!!! lol
It’s not over for Cruz at all. First and foremost because Trump is the one in the lead.
LOL! Ouch!
I mean Cruz is not going to win Nevada so Now he’s one for four. Trump will have all the momentum going into March 1st and these wins in SC and NV are going to translate into better poll numbers for Trump also. If you are Cruz and Rubio its like a bad dream.
That surprising
No question. Trump has a perfectly valid point that if it were Rubio or Jeb with Trump’s wins, the pundits would be saying it’s all over. And it probably is.
Pretending those who disagree with you are stupid or stoned is a sure sign that the person throwing that sort of personal attack as a response to something that wasn't personal knows full well there's an element of truth in what they're responding to.
What you claim to know is amusing, albeit typical of a ten year old rather than someone who actually thinks through what's going and makes a realistic appraisal of the situation.
Apparently the majority of Cruz supporters are mentally trapped in their prepubescent years.
LOL!

Face reality - Cruz can’t win a single county in a state that was tailor-made for him. He’s done. It’s a question of how long he delays the inevitable. And based on his showing in this primary he’d better get back to the Senate and do a really good job or he’ll get primaried there too.

just donate an extra 40 bucks to FR. your money will be better spent that way anyway.
In all seriousness, I wonder if Ted will now, finally, after all this, fire his sleazeball campaign manager Jeff Roe.
“True conservative principles” If those include mailings that seem to accuse occasional voters of red letter VOTER VIOLATIONS, and voter statistics that are a lie.
Sen Cruz took on Iowa with a great ground game and spent some cash to coordinate that effort, and it was a must-win; even had he won in NH (which was implausible), he had to win Iowa. He had a shot in SC -- as his 'bots here on FR kept reminding us beforehand that it's an open primary (irrelevant since the Demwit side isn't going uncontested) -- and put in some effort, possibly less than Rubio, probably less than Kasich (odd choice for Kasich, unless he was counting on a major upset second place finish), and still came in second, so, really not bad. He won't do that well in Florida, probably, but as pointed out before, the field is in three parts -- Trump, then Cruz/Rubio (and formerly /Bush/Christie), and everyone else (now down to Kasich/Carson). Cruz is now in direct battle with Rubio, and so will be Kasich (from opposite flanks of course). Carson's percentage of support will probably remain steady, and he'd better be ready to endorse someone, because he probably won't be on the ticket (neither will Jeb, he rejected the idea of being Trump's running mate).
So true if it was Rubio or Jeb they would be coronating them tonight. What party tries to kill off its own frontrunner? Bizarre.
Yep.
“He needs to cut a deal for SCOTUS and endorse Trump.”
Ted Cruz is unfit for the SCOTUS due to his corrupt campaigning, dishonesty about his donors, and his refusal to comply with the Constitution’s natural born citizen clause.
Maybe Cruz could do well in 8 years. He made some pretty devastating mistakes in his rookie campaign. I bet he has learned a lot. He is a true blue conservative but you have to be likable to run and win.
