In August of 2015, against considerable backlash, we stood firm on a fundamental position that Senator Ted Cruz did not have a pathway, a roadmap, to victory in the 2016 GOP presidential primary.
Despite the fundamentally sound reasoning for our prediction, which was entirely based on congressional district by district analytics, our position drew an immense amount of criticism and even a quick response from the Cruz campaign itself (Brian Phillips).
Unfortunately, tonight’s South Carolina results vindicate a massive amount of historical research. There simply is no pathway to victory when you rely almost exclusively on “proselytizing as an electoral strategy“:

It’s not personal, it is simply a factual reality. The Ted Cruz Road Map is non-existent; and beyond the SEC primary states there is little to no organization at all. Nothing in the state of Florida. The campaign is NOT what most people have been led to believe it is.
We strongly urge people to do their own research and to connect their own dots. The campaign will NOT stop sending you donation requests, that much is certain.
The thing about the Cruzaholics is how they yelled at Trumpsters and disparaged them. I found it very juvenile coming from so-called “social” conservatives.
I certainly hope he keeps his current A team. And in reality, he’s out of time: it’s only 8 days till super Tuesday. He could switch managers from now till then and it’s still not going to help. The die is pretty much cast.
I hope he sticks around till at least Florida.
Let’s hope Teddy sticks it out till then and later.
With enemies like this, who needs friends?
“Socialist” conservatives ARE WORSE than dyed in the wool Marxists. They are dangerous.
Let’s cut the BS; The majority of St. Rafael fanatics hate Trump because:
1. He’s wealthy.
2. He does whatever he wants.
3. His children are also successful.
The envy is so green, Crayola’s making a new crayon with the color.
bump to the top
“His next election in Texas will handle that issue.”
Yup. See tagline.
If Teddy were real smart, he’d bail after NV and head straight home with his awesome stash of campaign cash and start mending fences for 2018. He might even consider trying to do something useful as a senator. But as he’s the “smartest guy in the room” he sure doesn’t seem to do many real smart things.
All the better for my candidate that he flop about like a landed fish and stick around until the bitter end.
You go Teddy! Onward to victory!
HA! You’ve got a great way with words!
Cruz getting involved with Beck may prove to be his worst, FATAL mistake! How the hell does one with Cruz’ intellect, align himself with a political madman? Apparently he has VERY poor judgment in some respects, and he us now paying a heavy price for it.
Goebelle-like memes sound like they come straight from Planned Parenthood. Do they pay you for posting them?
I never hear anyone argue that Cruz voted for abortion over here, or argued for tax increases, or argued for gun restrictions in a court case. Why? Because he is the across the board conservative that has the highest ratings from EVERY conservative organization.
So either there are a lot of phony “conservatives” on this forum, or there are a lot of misguided, deceived ones.
Siding with GOPe, the Dems, Planned Parenthood, and the hail-Satan left is far worse than creepy and slimy. It is filthy, nasty, abominable. It belongs on DU, not Free Republic.
Thank you so much. :)
When the material writes itself, as is the case with the Cruzbots, the words flow pretty easy.
I barf!!!! You are delusional.
Rubio was out saying praising Jesus like they are pals right before the Iowa caucus. Those of us who remember supporting him with the Tea Party have not forgotten being backstabbed on immigration. He still lies about it by saying alternate positions when he speaks in Spanish.
Trump questioned Cruz on being an Evangelical Christian by several times wondering out loud how someone of a Cuban heritage could be.
Huckabee has done similar things.
Don’t buy into the media memes. Cruz is hated by two kinds - the far left, abortion-loving types, and the naive who either fall for the memes or just simply can’t stand the idea that conservatives may be disliked by some people.
“LOL, love that defeaTED graphic.”
Of course you do. Your six months sign-up date here means you have no awareness of the lifelong conservative values someone like Cruz brings to the table.
If you want to support Trump, fine. I will too if he wins the primaries. But if your reason for being on Free Republic is to bash the most conservative candidate, then go back to DU where you belong, with the hail-Satan, abortion-loving left.
“Trump ferocity towards Cruz is for one reason and one reason only and that is to destroy him enough to get him to drop out. Then it is easy road for Trump to take out Rubio.”
Wrong. Rubio is the one that needs to be taken out. He has proven himself untrustworthy. Cruz has proven himself trustworthy. 100% conservative ratings. 0% NARAL ratings. Has not broken any campaign promise.
Trump can go head to head with Cruz. We need to get rid of ALL the GOPe candidates in the race, not cooperate with GOPe so they can consolidate and get behind their send choice, Rubio.
Looks like a GOP establishment insider to me:
1995: Graduated Harvard Law School
1995: Law clerk to Michal Luttig, 4th circuit
1996: Law clerk to William Rehnquist, Supreme Court
1997-1998: Private law practice, worked on impeachment of Bill Clinton, served as private council for John Boehner
2000: Domestic policy advisor for the George W. Bush campaign
2000: Participated in the legal team that successfully fought Bush v. Gore up to the Supreme Court level
2000: Recruited John Roberts for the Bush legal team.
2001-2003: Appointed associate US deputy Attorney General
2001-2003: Appointed director of public policy planning for the FTC
2003-2008: Appointed Solicitor General of Texas
2008-2013: Private law practice, represented such corporate clients such as Pfizer, a Chinese tire company, B. Braun Medical Company, Toyota, some major personal injury cases.
2013-present: Elected Texas junior Senator
Ted Cruz belongs on the US Supreme Court, not in the White House.
Cruz is right where he’s been aiming to be, the obvious GOPe VP choice with Rubio which puts him at the front of the line for the establishment ticket in four or eight years.

I was just thinking that...let’s put two cubans of dubious NBC status up both arguing who is worse on immigration.
That sounds like the ticket we are looking for! /s
What a sh*t band. And between young freaks like that and Sanders zombies, the country us doomed...eventually. I hope I won’t be still around to see it
“SC was a state tailor-made for Cruz with an overwhelmingly evangelical conservative electorate.”
Wrong. Open primaries means liberals who hate Cruz with a passion can participate in Republican primaries. The evangelical vote was divided between Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Carson, with maybe a little bit elsewhere.
The strategy for GOPe right now is to take out Cruz so Rubio can go head to head with Trump. Doubt that will work, but it is what’s happening. Also, GOPe prefers Trump over Cruz. They hate Cruz the most. Their goal is to split evangelical votes until the primaries in the north. That is when you will see the “Christian” candidates have their support dry up and they drop out.
If Carson and others had dropped out sooner, the race would have been tighter. And the media is helping Rubio. He sent the same message out in Iowa that he, Carson, Trump, and the media used to slime his campaign with the lying meme. Carson was played. Probably told to stay in by Trump and / or Rubio campaign with suggestions he may get VP. (He won’t.)
That might be the one place where I would support Ted, EXCEPT, I might be afraid that the other justices would never get along with Ted either. :(
At least Nino was liked by everyone (’cept Kennedy).
