In August of 2015, against considerable backlash, we stood firm on a fundamental position that Senator Ted Cruz did not have a pathway, a roadmap, to victory in the 2016 GOP presidential primary.
Despite the fundamentally sound reasoning for our prediction, which was entirely based on congressional district by district analytics, our position drew an immense amount of criticism and even a quick response from the Cruz campaign itself (Brian Phillips).
Unfortunately, tonight’s South Carolina results vindicate a massive amount of historical research. There simply is no pathway to victory when you rely almost exclusively on “proselytizing as an electoral strategy“:

It’s not personal, it is simply a factual reality. The Ted Cruz Road Map is non-existent; and beyond the SEC primary states there is little to no organization at all. Nothing in the state of Florida. The campaign is NOT what most people have been led to believe it is.
We strongly urge people to do their own research and to connect their own dots. The campaign will NOT stop sending you donation requests, that much is certain.
Most Canadians in masks typically are.
LOL! OK, but go easy on him, you don’t want Babs coming after you.
I respectfully disagree: the president is not America’s pastor — Ted’s problem was NOT a problem of being Christian, it was a problem of seeing the role of Christianity through those eyes. This kind of amalgam thinking got the church in trouble only a few hundred years into its existence. Much dilution of Christianity later (Church of the DMV, anyone?) and many wars and many persecutions and many heartaches later, the church around the world seems to have mostly learned that lesson. But America has lagged.
These Christians of South Carolina realized that they weren’t being asked to elect a pastor. There could hypothetically be better people than Trump to fill the slot, yes. But Trump was the one raised to the moment.
Honestly, I can’t envision President Trump nominating Cruz for any position. He doesn’t abide liars, and I think he’s had quite enough from Cruz.
Ted Cruz made a big mistake getting involved with lunatic Glenn Beck and not just up on stage in Iowa. I suspect Beck has been giving Cruz plenty of advice behind the scenes. Beck prolly flooded Cruz with so much anti-Trump trash talk that Cruz had to tell him...ENOUGH! It was driving him crazy.
If at some point Trump sees the absolute need to have Cruz as VP he can bring that about!
Trump can offer 100% of what Cruz wants, he can absolutely promise Cruz that if they win he will soon become the president.
All Trump would have to do is resign the office a bit early :-)
How's that for an offer you can't refuse?
Rush has spoken numerous times of his conversations with Scalia and Thomas. He said even he was surprised to hear that there is no deliberation among the Justices. There is no changing anyones mind.
I’m on the communist Left Coast, but what is that other Rubio area? Charleston?
Yeah, Ted needed to do a lot better than he did today and he’s lost his mojo. Something had better jump-start Cruz or else he’ll be out. Iowa isn’t ever enough.
“McConnell: We’re Going to ‘Crush’ Tea Party Candidates in GOP Primaries This Year”
Provocative comments over the weekend from Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell will provide grist for the ‘grassroots vs. establishment’
Statement from 2014
So, this kind of party!
If Cruz truly believed in the Constitution, he wouldn't be running!Excelent observation. It would make a great tagline.
I want Trump to attack Rubio and I am being paid by George Will?
i’ll just assume you read it wrong.
Rubtio plus bush’s votes plus Kasich’s votes eventually mean trouble.
therefore, Trump has MORE to worry about from Rubio (an amnesty pimp) than Cruz (who seems stuck in the 20s percentage wise)
Nobody’s thinking. Rubio could poll in the 30s with the RINO vote to himself.
Maybe you misunderstood. That’s cool.
I used to like George Will. What a shame.
I used to like Krautheimer too. I’m sure I spelled that wrong :)
Yep, Charleston. Lots of “moderate” pubbies and dems.
Cruz got schlonged!
I see it the same way and it sickens me.
How do people keep falling for this over and over?!
I don’t call FReepers “meth heads.”
i’m not calling you what I would love to.
you have to be the most sensitive person on the board.
Didn’t your mother give you enough love?
see a therapist. A woman, I think would be the best help.
Little did the Cruz people pounding their chests over the brilliant ground game and the secret army know that in their wake it more resembled a scorched earth army in retreat.
oh, and a true FReeper would be conservative and wouldn’t knock Cruz.
I wont answer your posts anymore but have a good one, I mean that.
Listening to Ted talk tonight, you would think he had won.But did he do this?
