President Obama called on Senate Republicans Tuesday to give his eventual Supreme Court nominee a fair hearing in his bid to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, as cracks emerged in the Republican leadership's position of automatically blocking any nominee.
"I expect them to hold hearings. I expect them to hold a vote," Mr. Obama said at a press conference. "There's no unwritten law that says it can only be done on off years."

VBO! (Vote the b@stards out!)
Does anybody think for one minute that Reid would have a vote?
Sure. Trump strives to change business as usual in DC. Do you really think the uni-party DC slime in the US Senate want a judge who will meet his standards?
So Harry Reid predicts McConnell will retreat. That’s interesting. I wonder what they are blackmailing him with.
He is disgusting and pathetic.
They better not.
Grassley. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, the messenger of the wobble. This guy endorsed Rand Paul. Can Paul take this guy to the corner and put him to the woodshed? Has Rand Paul said anything of this?
If McConnell could be forced to resign, Bevin could appoint his replacement
On 2/14 I said....
“Donât be surprised if whomever the rat king puts forward slides on in there with no real attempt to block by the GOP RINO controlled senate.”
I swear, he must have something pretty damning on each and every one of the MAJORITY of GOP politicians up there that he uses as blackmail. What else would explain them NEVER making anything but a little blustering effort to stop him in a majority held house and senate? They are proving that there is no difference in a dimocrat or republican WH.
The fact that they ALL hate Trump says a lot. I saw a clip of BO this morning stating that “Trump will NEVER be president.” As far as I’m concerned, that’s the best endorsement Trump can hope to attain.
I love Trump’s response. “You are lucky I didn’t run last time.”
Sheesh. Does every thread need to become a Trump cheerleading session. It only took 3 or 4 posts to start.
By now a much too familiar story line. NSA has the Jarrett and Obozo blackmail dirt on these RINO scumbags and the traitors are willing to flush their country down the toilet to stay in power.

The title of this thread is precisely the reason that Donald Trump, and no one else, is the current GOP frontrunner.
This really does explain why he behaves the way he does. It also means he will once again, not oppose Obama.
He really should be tarred and feathered.
Is anyone surprised about this? I didn’t think so.
The Republican party is utterly and completely corrupted and cannot be fixed. They have become the enemy of the State and a new party must be formed if we want to save our country...and that starts with the election of a non-politician.
Can Paul take this guy to the corner and put him to the woodshed? Has Rand Paul said anything of this?
Senator Paul favors allowing a vote.
“while Paul said Obama “has a conflict of interest” in appointing a justice, he would “look at” an Obama nominee.
“It’s going to be very, very, very difficult to get me to vote for a presidential nomination from this president,” he said. “I will look at it if it comes down, but my threshold for voting for somebody is going to be very, very high.””

The time to start railing against the nominee, is when we know who the nominee is.
While I can't promise that the GOP won't end up caving (everyone needs to do what they do best), this is not a sign of caving. This is posturing for an election. I would guess that Senator Johnson of Wisconsin and a couple of other Senators up for re-election to give similar statements.
Does anyone thing that Obama will nominate a moderate, consensus candidate?
