Everyone get a grip. This is an article about Grassley and Tillis, both of whom are in tough re-election fights in purple states. Both of them essentially said that they would not decide whether to block the nomination until after they see who gets nominated by Obama. I have heard the same sort of thing on several news outlets, that if Obama puts up a "consensus" candidate, it would make it harder for the Republicans to block him or her.
While I can't promise that the GOP won't end up caving (everyone needs to do what they do best), this is not a sign of caving. This is posturing for an election. I would guess that Senator Johnson of Wisconsin and a couple of other Senators up for re-election to give similar statements.
Does anyone thing that Obama will nominate a moderate, consensus candidate?

The MSM and the Democrats will portray any candidate Obama nominates as not only a moderate, consensus candidate but also as the greatest person in human history. They will say that only an evil obstructionist could oppose the nominee. The Democrats will hijack the confirmation hearings and make political speech after political speech.

“this is not a sign of caving. This is posturing for an election. “
This is one of the biggest problems we have, the constant posturing for the next election instead of doing what’s right for the American people that elected them. Perfect example of why we need term limits on these people.
