Unecessary angst. Grassely has said that he'd consider the nominee. That's the only sensible position to take, because right now, other than Obama is the one doing the nominating, the issue is a vacuum.

The time to start railing against the nominee, is when we know who the nominee is.

Everyone get a grip. This is an article about Grassley and Tillis, both of whom are in tough re-election fights in purple states. Both of them essentially said that they would not decide whether to block the nomination until after they see who gets nominated by Obama. I have heard the same sort of thing on several news outlets, that if Obama puts up a "consensus" candidate, it would make it harder for the Republicans to block him or her.

While I can't promise that the GOP won't end up caving (everyone needs to do what they do best), this is not a sign of caving. This is posturing for an election. I would guess that Senator Johnson of Wisconsin and a couple of other Senators up for re-election to give similar statements.

Does anyone thing that Obama will nominate a moderate, consensus candidate?
