Supreme Court Justice Antontin Scalia died Saturday while on a hunting trip in Texas.
He was 79, a pioneer of conservative thought on the Court, and will be forever remembered for his acerbic wit and legendary quotes.
Now with Republicans both in the presidential race and the Senate saying they’ll stall until 2017 to allow a new Justice to be seated on the court, the question is here: Which candidate do Republicans trust the most to name Scalia’s successor?
The answer, according to an Independent Journal Review poll conducted by Google Consumer Surveys, is Ted Cruz, trailed by Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.
The poll was conducted nationwide among 1,554 likely Republican voters who watched the CBS News GOP debate on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Would be interesting to see how those numbers break down into the individual states, especially SC.
Hard for me to believe Trump scores that high
It would.
Makes sense that Republicans would want the most conservative, Constitutionally grounded candidate to choose the next SC justice.
Trumpbot crap coming in 3 ... 2 ...
They chose a Canadian first? LMAO

Trump: ââ¬ËI donââ¬â¢t likeââ¬â¢ what Scalia said about affirmative action

Yup. It’s come to this: a Canadian or a carnival barker.
When this has been largely settled by every competent judicial review conducted... one has to wonder why Trump supporters feel the need to slander their only good alternative for conservative governance. Seems a mite... scorched-Earth in its effect.
Just wondering, does Trump even have a law degree? If not, maybe he could make the case everybody loves him and he could sue to get the appointment.
There you have it. I’m voting for Trump.
Winning!
Ivanka. The court needs some youth. Or Stacey Dash.
Yep, the Trump support is almost cult like, in that it doesn’t seem to matter what issue is under discussion, nor Trump’s past positions and statements on that issue. The Trump people support him, no matter what.
There you have it. I’m voting for
TrumpCruz.
Fixed it for ya.
It's what Cruz ignored about Roberts, his legal hero.
Crus for the court is perfect! The right Ivy pedigree, Hispanic enough, gets rid of him in the Senate (which hates him), gets rid of him in the Presidential race, and gives him a lifetime job and bully pulpit. Go Cruz Go..for SCOTUS! And think how much like Grandpa Munster he would look in his long black robe!
It has been settled by no one. Cruz didn’t even know he had Canadian citizenship? Anyone believe that?
And, therein lies the problem - lawyers running this country. While Trump might not have a law degree - he does have a sister who is a judge. Now, before people start ragging on her saying she is pro-choice - Roe vs. Wade went into effect in 1973 - she had to uphold the law. That doesn’t mean she is pro-abortion. I love the way people stretch and assume - but, hey, sutpid can’t be fixed.
Cruz and Rubio could really mess up the senate count. Buyer beware.
