I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the Scalia family after the passing of Justice Scalia. Justice Scalia was a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice, one of the best of all time. His career was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans' most cherished freedoms. He was a Justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.
Maybe everyone on here should read Cruz’s statement as well as Trump’s. One was boilerplate, polite, short, small town newspaper obit. Cruz was personal, sincere, from the heart.
Get over your judgemental self. There’s already a thread (I’m sure) about CRuz’s statement. So, go pander to your sheeple, over there.
Additionally, CRuz’s statement is no better than Trump’s. To make such a claim, at the expense of Justice Scalia’s passing, is beyond contemptible.
Classy guy!
Actually sounds very Trump live and what I would have said not knowing just how great Scalia was in his judgments. I didn’t know his case history but am even more devastated at his passing after reading Cruz’s statement...
“Today our Nation mourns the loss of one of the greatest Justices in history - Justice Antonin Scalia,” Cruz said in a statement. “A champion of our liberties and a stalwart defender of the Constitution, he will go down as one of the few Justices who single-handedly changed the course of legal history.
“As liberals and conservatives alike would agree, through his powerful and persuasive opinions, Justice Scalia fundamentally changed how courts interpret the Constitution and statutes, returning the focus to the original meaning of the text after decades of judicial activism. And he authored some of the most important decisions ever, including District of Columbia v. Heller, which recognized our fundamental right under the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms. He was an unrelenting defender of religious liberty, free speech, federalism, the constitutional separation of powers, and private property rights. All liberty-loving Americans should be in mourning.”
I’m sure Ted sent his personal sympathies to the family. This was to the nation.
Well said, Jane.
Yes...WELL SAID!!!
Just like your buddy Cruz, the man isn’t even cold yet and you are trying to make political hay. Cram it.
Thanks, huldah.
Good deal. Thanks.
If that were to happen then there could be no mistake to say that it was not “natural causes” but premeditated causes.
Political statement, so in the debate he will campaign that he is the guy to replace Scalia. Classless.
Congrats!
Who the f*ck cares? Jesus, you guys are obnoxious children.
Greatest Justice of our lifetime.
Pray America wakes
Thanks for the post. I just got home and read Trump’s statement.
My post was a quote. I didn’t make any commentary. What the he’ll are you talking about?
Sorry.
But from where I stand, your comment and opinion is trite and classless...
I know it was a quote, however, your motive was to trash Trump with it - regardless of whether or not you commented.
You seem to have left your "safe place" again.
I freely admit I erred in the sequence of dates, but that does not alter my opinion of your statements one iota.
If an honest observation is hateful, I pity your mental health.
There will be no mention of any candidate and the statements made. What will be said is it’s time to put on your tin foil hats and think about “The Pelican’s Brief” As has been seen in the past out DC critters leave no stone upturned in order to take this country down the path they wish to pursue This was made clear with the death of Andrew. What if it was followed thru with even more skulduggery. The initial reports coming in this afternoon are conflicting. Private residence? Resort? Thirty plus minutes in driving time from one Texas City to another. Just moments in time and a snapshot of media turned upside down or has the narrative just begun much like the massacre in Benghazi? WTP are very suspicious of all DC Critters and we have every right to be.
What you think or believe about my mental health is a non issue - it is fine thank you. Possibly, you should be more concerned about your own.
I agree!
The only problem is that if the debate is still on tonight, who knows what will happen.
