Donald Trump is crushing the Republican field in South Carolina, more than doubling his closest competitor ahead of the primary on Feb. 20, according to a new poll.

Trump laps the field with 34.5 percent support in the South Carolina House Republican Caucus poll, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) with 15.5 percent support, former Florida governor Jeb Bush with 13 percent support, and Sen. Marco Rubio with 12.5 percent support.

Trump leads among Republicans of all ideological stripes, winning pluralities of self-identified conservatives, moderates, independents and libertarians.

Cruz wants to create a VAT tax. That alone is reason enough to oppose him.

I agree, flipping any of the northeast, except maybe PA is unrealistic. He could sweep pretty much the rest, though, excepting CA, OR, WA and IL.

Hmmmm ... I gave Cruz a slight edge in Iowa. We all knew Trump was going to take New Hampshire. And I believe Cruz will win South Carolina. It's a slam dunk if Cruz gets an endorsement from Gingrich. Saying that Trump will win 2-1 in South Carolina is like saying South Carolina's constituents mirror the values in New Hampshire. That is not remotely the case. Trump might win -- I doubt it, but he might. But winning 2-1 is a pipe dream.

The info on the respondents is sorely lacking: just age and ideological self-identification.
No info on who took the poll or how.

The results are not unreasonable but such poor documentation makes them un-useful.

Iowa has a closed caucus. If you can organize a small group of evangelicals it’s enough to win.

Hew Hamphire and South Carolina have open primaries. Anyone can vote. The top issues for voters are immigration and national security.

Trump will win SC by a larger margin than he did NH.

I used to live in Wilmington DE about 4 miles from the PA line. I enjoyed visiting Philly many times, saw a lot of great shows at the Spectrum, which I don’t think is there anymore. I saw a Johnny Winter, James Cotton and Muddy Waters show at the Tower Theatre that was recorded for a live album (I can hear me whistling).
Philly’s not all bad, loved the Mummer’s Parade and Gino’s cheese steaks.

You don’t believe this one. Here’s another SC poll that came out today.

In fact I said the results were “not unreasonable”.

The info on the poll is significantly lacking.

Only a week left. Cruz is very likely going to lose South Carolina.

I cant argue with you on your OP. But I would say he has a chance of at NJ for one, and an outside chance at some of the other states in NE outside of NY.

West coast? Forget it. The whole continental west coast should be kicked out of the union. I dont see him taking MN either, although MN has done some real strange stuff.

After SC we will see how it all shakes out for both Cruz and Trump.

He’s not going to ‘lose’ SC, just as Trump didn’t ‘lose’ Iowa.

What will be bad for Cruz is if he doesn’t come in second, well ahead of the other Trump alternatives.
Looks like he won’t, but he’s been working hard there and may beat the polls like In Iowa.
